All of the politicians I've seen were quite chary about expressing opinions, really. They seemed to like free dinners, but not eating words.

Well, he has to clean up his own messes. Tell him he has to bring his own towels lots of them, mops, squeegees, and disinfectants!!..unless he wishes to practice out in the pasture!
If he is good, we'll supply the bananas!

I'll see if I can arrange it. Do you have something that can work as a firing range on your property? Any targets set up? Chongo likes to practice his shooting skills as often as possible, so when he's visiting country people he always inquires about those kind of facilities. He and Clint Eastwood are forever trying to one-up each other when it comes to that sort of thing...ever since they both shot off the burning end of the cigar that was clenched in the other guy's jaws. It was at a bar in California, back in 1985. They've been pals ever since. Chongo knows the Orangutan who worked in those "Everywhich Way..." Eastwood films. He says he's "not a bad guy...for an Orangutan".

I know that this is just an opinion, but, I think that the ultimate rejection is when you're masturbating, and your hand falls asleep.

I see. Well, no, I think the ultimate rejection is suicide...if I may become serious for just a moment here. That's a definitive and final form of rejection of oneself, of life, of others, basically of the whole shebang...although it's "normal" common suicide that I'm talking about here, not suicide done on behalf of a political or national ideal (such as the WWII kamikaze pilots or a suicide bomber, for example). The latter is not based so much on rejection as it is on the idea of "service" (to the nation or the cause)...and taking vengeance on a perceived enemy.

The kamikaze pilots expected to die anyway (even in normal combat conditions), but they wanted to do so in a way which would do maximum damage to the military forces of the Allies. You could say that the men at the Alamo did something a bit along the same lines...and they are celebrated for it to this day. (caution: I don't mean EXACTLY along the same lines...but Travis did give them a chance to slip out and escape...or to fight and die...and virtually all of them made the choice to fight and die. I expect, like the Japanese, they didn't want to look bad in front of the others who chose to fight and die. It was a matter of honor. If an American does it, he is celebrated forever. If a Japanese does it, he's regarded as a fool who died uselessly.

(It helps a lot, of course, if your side ultimately happens to win the war, as the Texans did...then you can say that the sacrifice was "not in vain". If you lose, then people don't feel so good about it afterwards.)

I'll try to make this brief...but suicide is usually not caused from rejecting one's self, but rather, from one's sense of doing all he could, and never being 'good enough' to be accepted.
For instance, when a person is talking suicide, one of the worse things to tell that person is "Oh, but we love you...etc." That isn't what they are thinking...it makes them further think that NOBODY understands....and it even hurts them further to hear that!!
But rather, let that person KNOW how important HE (or SHE) is, and how much they really ARE appreciated, but nobody ever really expresses it to them. They have to be built up, and given the feeling that their own life, has been so beneficial to so many people, and in so many deep ways..and that they are so very much important, etc. etc...(True story)..I know, I've had to do it, and one not really that long ago!
Gawd!...where do these people come from?..and why do they seem to get around me??,,,,but I tell you, it's really, though, very mentally exhausting, it's also very ..umm...I guess the word is, both draining, and like you've given it your 'all'..just to save a life, that is really shaky.

Now, as to that 'other' subject.....don't you remember, when you were telling me about that time that you were........

wink(on the last part, only)

I think that rejection of self (acute disappointment in oneself, and a resulting desire to erase one's very being) is a big factor in many suicides, GfS. Japan has always had high quite suicide statistics, and that is largely because suicide is seen in that culture as a legitimate way of restoring personal honor after having "failed"...or of atoning for one's failure. Enormous numbers of their military personnel committed suicide merely over the personal shame of having participated in a lost battle or a failed campaign. These were highly trained and desperately needed men who took their own lives as a form of apology for having let their nation down by losing a battle! Extraordinary. The thing their nation most needed at that moment (from a practical military point of view) was for them to live to fight again another day, but instead they took their own lives. They did it because they were deeply ashamed of themselves and felt they didn't deserve to live.

While many people do commit suicide because they feel that "no one understands", I think that many also do so because they feel like abject failures. Lack of self-esteem is quite common in depressed and suicidal individuals. It can also be found in the manic type who rebounds from extreme confidence at times to the depths of depression at other times.

You asked, by the way, why is it that you find those people around you a fair bit...?

Maybe because you are one who is gifted in such a way as to be able to help them? Or it might be for a number of other reasons. In any case, like the rest of us, you simply end up dealing with what life sends your way.

Sorta....but I'm not always coming across people like that..its maybe because I can spot some tell tale signs maybe.
And by the way, your description of your prior posts, describes the same elements, of which I was speaking of(or typing, which ever case may be), it is like from a failure for some to live with the feeling that absolutely NO ONE sees the care or effort, and love, behind the motives, that one tried to achieve....sooo, same sorta deal....but that doesn't take away from one's hand falling asleep!!!..now does it???(wink!)..well???, does it???!!!??

Okay...this thing about the hand...I have never experienced that, but are you implying that Chongo has?

I've had a foot fall asleep the odd time, but never a hand.

Well a hand falling asleep is better than cramp in an inopportune moment. It is hard to make a sexy impression when you are hopping around the room.
