Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: CarolC Date: 12 Jan 05 - 01:07 PM Just wanted to make that distinction clear, DougR. You can have a debate on whether or not lobotomies are the miracle treatment people thought them to be back when Rosemary Kennedy was given one if you want. I was just making the distinction between developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: DougR Date: 12 Jan 05 - 03:01 PM I did not mean to imply that Rosemary Kennedy was insane. Only that she had a disability. I'm confident her father thought he was doing the thing best for her. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: DougR Date: 13 Jan 05 - 11:48 AM Great, Barb, you might want to pick up the December 2005 edition of Atlantac magazine too! Nothing particularly heartwarming about Bush there, but excellent articles on Iran and the potential problems there. There is an excellent article looking back twenty-five years at the hostage crisis that occured when Jimmy Carter was president too, with interviews with many hostage takers. Love you back, DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: Little Hawk Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:53 PM Yup. Doug, the biggest potential problem facing Iran is a future attack by the USA. Sort of like the biggest potential problem that faced Yugoslavia, Russia, and a variety of other places in 1940 and 1941. However, forget about that. I have a whole new slant to bring to this thread, which is...they chose the WRONG Person of the Year. It should have been..... (BIG drum roll.....) Martin Gibson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: DougR Date: 14 Jan 05 - 12:44 AM Well, L.H., I haven't spoken to Martin Gisbson about your nomination, but if chosen, he might accept. DougR |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2004 From: Little Hawk Date: 14 Jan 05 - 10:55 AM Yes, I think he would. :-) Just THINK how infuriated a number of people here would be if Martin Gibson had appeared on the cover of Time as "Person of the Year". LOL!!! It would make this squabble about Bush seem like small potatoes... It is my contention that Martin Gibson has had more effect on Mudcat Cafe in 2004 than any other human. He should definitely receive some sort of official recognition for that. |
