Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: GUEST Date: 28 Apr 05 - 03:52 PM The ruling was overturned by the grandson of Duruthers. So, extricate oneself from Barons Court. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: MuddleC Date: 28 Apr 05 - 06:09 PM If you're going to be picky, Barons Court isn't stricty part of the GWR, so either lose a turn by visiting the buffet car or accept a shunt. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: GUEST Date: 28 Apr 05 - 06:13 PM GWR are only 75% of the value of UKM. So that neatly keeps us in the bosom of Baron's Court. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: Folkiedave Date: 29 Apr 05 - 07:37 AM I am really sorry to be boring about this but can I just go back to this post? April Game From: Bunnahabhain - PM Date: 28 Apr 05 - 12:23 PM "Stovolds Mornington Crescent Almanac" published 2001 by Orion, ISBN 0-75284-729-5 clearly states (p. 92) At the Annual Peculiar Rule Changing Committee Meeting 2001 Season, Rule 147.22a (For those of you not familiar with the rules of MC this refers to the Angle of the Diagonal) "The Angle of the Diagonal is to be no less than 45 degrees and no more than 53 degrees within Permimeter Buildings" It goes on to say..... "When playing the contract version people may prefer to use Stovold's Original Ruling (itself derived from Warburton) which states "The Angle of The Diagonal is 48 degrees and that's all there is to it"". There is a new simplified wording that says "The Angle of the Diagonal (hereinafter the angle) shall be agreed to be any angle agreed to be an angle agreed to be betwen the angles of 1 Degree and 359 Degrees". (For any newcomers that is Celsius of course and not Fahrenheit). There is even an illustration showing this to clarify matters on p. 93 but that naturally is a straight line. Remember in MC the Diagonal is that which is deemed to be that line which is not monagonal, polyagonal or hemiagonal and is one part removed from linear conjunctions of stations. It seems to me therefore that unless anyone was actually holding Tadge then that was a winning move. Of course this is open to interpretation and I am happy to be corrected on this point under the Duckworth-Lewis Method. Best regards, Dave Eyre |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: MuddleC Date: 29 Apr 05 - 03:10 PM Ahhhh! My copy of the rule book had a coffee stain over that bit; but now its plainly obvious that the degreee of diagonal is the PYTHAGOREAN equivalent of the archemedian linear. (There was a suggestion that instead of measuring in degrees, radians should be used.) Utilising the Duckworth-Lewis is only possible when you can get the wood. or even ST.John's Wood |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: Bunnahabhain Date: 29 Apr 05 - 04:44 PM I have to say, I did not make the referred to post a few below this one I wish I had, and it does sound like my kind of verbose and almost certainly self-contradicting meanderings, but it is a fraud and a fake. BTW, Barwick Green. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: Folkiedave Date: 29 Apr 05 - 07:28 PM I did not seem to make myself clear - apologies. I copied and pasted the post from Bunnahabhain to point out that under the rules (not verbose please) that was in fact a winning post. If you would care to check the ISBN number you will find the book exists and so do the rules referred to. The page numbers are correct also. In fact newcomers to the game of Mornington Crescent should try and get hold of a copy as they will find it invaluable. Regular players will find it valuable. Best regards, Dave |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Cresent - April Game From: Bunnahabhain Date: 29 Apr 05 - 07:43 PM I knew I should have stuck to locations outside of London, and so avoided any chance of actually winning. I'll start it again, and pretend this never happened.... Cape Wrath should be safe. Bunnahabhain |
