lol I was walking by a house about an hour ago and the crowd of people inside were yelling their heads off. I didn't linger but since Alaska is not Canadian I figured they were encouraging the US team. I should swing back by there. lol

Congratulations on the Silver Medal, USA! Your boys played a fantastic game. It could just have easily gone the other way.

Could someone please teach those boys to say "Thank you" when someone gives them a medal? I know that they were tired and sad, but that's just plain good manners.

I can't find my cookie but it sure was a great game! Were there any losers? No, the Yanks played great and should be proud! On paper the Canadians were much stronger, and if they had lost it would have been an upset! Dual citizenship also comes strongly into play as the man who tied the game for USA and the man who set up Crosby's goal could have played for either country! No loser on either side of the 49!
All that being said I am proud to be from the same province as Sidney Crosby!

That's all I have to offer!
As pissed as you are at us, we still love ya!
Olyimpic Record for a little dinky country like us!
If sand was made of snow, fighting in the dumes would be over!

So many of the medals were decided among evenly matched opponents who pushed themselves a little harder to excel. It was strictly a matter of who edged out the other at the end. As it should be.

I don't understand Hockey. I can't figure out the rule if there are any. What is icing anyway? I see a lot of little kids tooled up for little league with knives on their feet and clubs in their hands and their mothers telling me it isn't a violent sport. Certainly a sport of contradictions.

This was the third game I have ever seen. But I gotta say that was one hell of a lot fun. Certainly a game to be remembered as one for the ages. I got nothing done in the shop while I watched a game I don't know.

Don

An amazing game, credit to both teams, and extra credit to the Canadians who soldiered through!

The balance of power shifted several times in this game and I gave up watching when it was 2:0 with Canada leading. But I was drawn back when the news flashed that the game was going into sudden death over-time.

Great game. Thought the US would win in OT after the last seconds goal in regulation. Canada and Crosby rose to the occasion. Congrats to all of you in the Frozen North.

Being laid-up for virtually all of the olympics, I was able to watch several "great" match-ups - a wonderful two-week period of games.
Both my wife and I were torn between US and Canada because Mike Babcock, Steve Yzerman and Wings GM Holland were running the Canadian team, while Brian Rafalski was driving great guns with team USA. In the end, we just didn't want anyone to lose, but we both felt that the best ending came about; besides, I really did not think it would be fair to Roberto Luongo to have to face the rest of the season after losing the gold medal on home ice - he's a good guy, even if he isn't a Red Wing. Great game; great rivalry, my only regret is that there were not enough smiles on the US team when they received their medals - they played hard and they played well, stand tall guys. The only thing left to say is: GO RED WINGS, GO!..............Harrison

Just super! I was rooting for the USA just because I'm a citizen, and was ridiculously happy at the tying goal with less than a minute to go.

Still, Canada's win was the truly appropriate storybook ending, especially because it was Sid the Kid who made the shot. And if the US had scored a wininng OT goal past Luongo, he would have had to endure way too much criticism, and his coach would have been second-guessed to kingdom come for not reinstating Brodeur in goal for the final game.

Americans will forget about the loss and be glad to have taken the silver. The same could not be said of the citizenry of Canada had the US won the gold.

I think it was wonderful, too, that Canada won the most golds (after a very slow start) while the US took the overall medal count with an all-time record total.

"I don't understand Hockey. I can't figure out the rule if there are any. What is icing anyway?"

In a nut shell, it's when you shoot the puck from your own side of the red-line and it goes all the way down the ice and across the opponents goal line(not in the goal-that's a goal).

I decided to look at my "Referees Case Book/Rule Combination" from Hockey Canada; Rule 10.5-a,b,c,d,e,f, with 17 different situational references. It's no freakin wonder people who don't play hockey find it so hard to understand the rules of the game!
