Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Nigel Paterson Date: 10 Apr 13 - 07:31 AM I wrote this poem for Ann the day before Jane entered hospital for the very last time. Ann is happy for me to share these lines with you. The poem is entitled: 'We sat & Watched'. "We sat & watched our Daughter sleeping, unofficial vigil keeping. Saw the covers rise & fall, movement slight, scarce seen at all. All the time the question: Why? Unanswered still, e'en though we cry, Why Her? Why Us? Our Family? Is this our fate, our destiny? Life's living rules have all been changed, the order has been rearranged. The Child dies first? That's not the way & we're unable to delay Nature at Her very worst, our Darling Girl left so close nursed. And when the end comes, as it will, still half a life left to fulfil. A coterie of things not done, no sharing in the joy & fun Of living out a normal life as Mother, Sister, Child & Wife. Insidious, remaining hidden, entering her life unbidden, No cure, no cure the doctors say, they cannot make it go away. And if we could, we'd take her pain & if we could, begin again. By re-creating life anew, a miracle not ours to do". With Love & eternal Gratitude to All of You, our Dearest Friends, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: ChanteyLass Date: 10 Apr 13 - 04:26 PM Nigel, your poem brought tears to my eyes. A few days ago I posted about M, S, and A. Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: catspaw49 Date: 11 Apr 13 - 01:40 AM Dearest Nigel and Ann, A day has arrived that no one ever wanted to happen. As we crewed along together we only wished and hoped for the best but then the best became that which we wanted least. Jane is now free of the pain which she never deserved. Your pain, and ours as we care deeply for your family, continues. Over time the healing will begin. Let it begin now. As I thought about about some appropriate song, and as it so often happens, two came to me together and from a source I never expected.......an album of lullabyes froma contemporary artist. The first I will leave now and the other later today. This one is a beautiful old standard. As I listened I realized that after her great struggle Jane has reached and is now cradled in her valley of love. Simple Gifts Spaw |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: catspaw49 Date: 11 Apr 13 - 01:40 PM Allison, you are indeed a fine song leader. Wonderful stuff........Ant what a crew choir! You're directing a world wide crew here Allison and we may not all be good but we're loud huh? If one looks back over this thread you'll realize the wide world of beliefs and religions too. No matter how we see things differently we also see much the same. Life can be great and also horrendous but what makes it move is the love we get and the the love we give. We believe in living and loving each each moment until a time comes when we muust leave the wonderful things and places we hold so dear and fly back home wherever that might be according to all those divergent beliefs. Sadly for us and especially for Nigel and Ann, Jane's time has come to fly back home.......... Daydream Land Thank you Nigel for allowing us to share part of her journey and yours. May you and Ann soon fill the holes in your hearts with the greatest and most beautiful memories. We love you.......and we sail on. Spaw/Patrick Paterson.......I drop one "T" today in your honor |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: GUEST,Frug Date: 11 Apr 13 - 05:39 PM ..and when it was over the light still shone and shone. And the light sought a place to rest and looked into the hearts of all those present. But the hearts were already filled by the light and so it found a place to rest in the eyes of those present as a twinkle. Never doused, the twinkle ignited to a flame with memories and hence the light shone forever. Memories are made of this .. I hope your pain eases soon. Frank |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Nigel Paterson Date: 12 Apr 13 - 06:29 AM A sketch of yesterday: The day began with rain, but ended in sunshine....240 good folk filled the Church for the Service of Celebration, at least 20 had to stand....many were from the locality, but there were those who had voyaged from Australia, South Africa, Denmark, Dubai, Scotland, America, Doha, Canada, Malaysia....a service planned to last just over an hour, actually lasted nearly two....humour, tears, many, many tears....every adult & child who paid tribute, made it to the end of their reading without additional support (just!)....the cremation that followed was for Family only, brief, yet dignified, my Darling Ann read a poem, her voice breaking with emotion, but gaining in strength, line by line...we filed out to be greeted by sunshine & blue skies; a perfect metaphor for Jane's personality....at the wake, tears, laughter, reminiscences, good food & drink, hugs, kisses, more tears when the time came to part....finally arrived home in the wee small hours, straight to bed to sleep dreamlessly, deeply....awoke to a new day with new pages in our Family Book of Life, as yet, blank, but soon to be written upon. There is much more I need to say by way of thankyous, gratitude, love. Yesterday, Ann & I took you all with us every step of the way. For the moment, 'The Rainbow' rests at anchor, sails furled. In a while, let's begin to consider a new name for our Thread...not just yet...too soon to make changes. Much Love to You All, our Dear & Trusted Friends, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |
