It's dark over here now, Dan...8.15pm..the lights of Torquay are twinkling away in the distance. I'm just making supper for us...and Tiggs, my dog is curled up fast asleep with his favourite cat, Tilly. She utterly adores him, kisses his face all over every single night..and he sits there like the soppy apeth that he is..big sloppy grin on his face, letting her.

You know, when Linda's feeling better, after all this is behind you, you guys should have a holiday over here, come and visit all us crazy British Mudcat folks, then we can all get to give you both some real hugs, not just virtual ones..

You're doin' fine....just fine...keep breathing...we're here...

I have to go check on the brocoli now as there's a weird smell coming from the kitchen...uh oh.....back shortly...

Is there a screen in the waiting room so you can keep track of Linda? Where I had my surgery, they had a tv screen so my family could keep track of it I was in prep, surgery or the recovery room.

I think Lizzie is right...you must be peeing PURE COFFEE by now. Holy cow man...I'd be shaking out of my skin after the 3rd cup!!!

How long is Linda supposed to be in surgery?

Dan... the doc has a tense job too... he might have to sit with a coffee for a bit too.

Knock that coffee shit off. Get yerself a cranberry juice or some water. You pour black water in and it comes out cleansed... where do you think all the crud goes? Yeech!

You got solitaire on the lap top? I use it when I wanna zone out. It's my meditation. I can't Zen out so it's the next best thing. I have a track record of 37% wins. Beat that.

Yup, there's a lot of preparation stuff goes on..and they chatter to each other too of course...

Did I ever tell you that years back, when I worked for the heart chaps, they told me that every one of their secretaries had to watch an open heart operation, so they'd know what went on etc....Well, I took a deep breath and plunged in, when the time came...scared shitless I was...All the staff were so kind though, so relaxed and in control of everything...piped music was playing in the background too...

Afterwards, when that particular patient came to see me I told him I'd been there, and he beamed at me, said "I was there too!"...bless him..

When he'd gone though the cardiologist let slip they'd been pulling me leg when they said about watching the operation, but they thought they'd see how far along with it I went.....

Doh! :0)

It's after 5pm and I'm hoping you are with Linda by now Dan!!!

If not, I'd like to share that my surgery was late starting (couldn't get the IV in) and then afterwards, they didn't have a room for me until about 9pm. My family was finally allowed to come to the recovery room to see me late in the day. And when I had my port put in, the surgeon was an hour late (I was awake for that one...just hanging out in the operating room wondering what the heck was going on).

Still thinking lots of good things for you both! I'll keep checking back!

And when she comes out of surgery and is going thru recovery from it just remember that as much as you are involved, it is all about her so...

...be prepared to be the housekeeper, the washer-woman, the cook, the driver, the errand runner and also her emotional support system...

But it will pass and you'll be an even bigger hero in her eyes after it does...

four and a half hours of surgery, they got it .. all of it. She is cut up pretty good but the doc now thinks the big chemo maybe not necessary, when the pathology report comes back we will see but she thinks it will be fine. Took out a bunch of lymph nodes along with the breast stuff. Lots of work ... But WE GOT IT !!

I hope you're both getting a good night's sleep right now.
The thought of those nymph lodes made my scar twitch - they took 19 of mine.
Keep up the pain killers for the next few days, then she won't need too much after that.
They should remove the drainage tubes in about a week.
Then slowly start the stretching exercises so the arm doesn't stiffen up.
If they've removed it all, hopefully you can avoid the chemo or ray stuff and check out the side effects if they offer you Tamoxifen. I said No Thanks and the Drs said OK!

Tomoxifin doesn't make the hair fall out, Ol'ster... It's just a follow-up which is used fir 5 years after surgery.... So if yer getting ready to shave yer head put the razor down...
