Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: Hollowfox Date: 15 Dec 05 - 08:32 PM You just rest up today, Darlin', and have Karen and the kids and everybody stay home for a while. If the freezing rain/winter storm messiness is half as bad at your house as it is at mine, you don't want to go outside - even if the alternative is staying in a hospital! seriously, I'm not looking forward to driving home in this tonight. And I'd rather not have Karen risk putting herself in the hospital by going out in this. Take care, and I think I'll just start up another fresh candle when I get home. Love, Mary |
Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: katlaughing Date: 15 Dec 05 - 09:03 PM GLAD TIDINGS!Karen just called. They are talking about releasing Spaw from hospital in a matter of days! Then she said he told her to ask me to call because his curiousity was up. Karen received another special package in the mail, today, plus some other wonderful, thoughtful cards, letters, etc. I will let him tell more when he is home and able. So...I called him. We talked for over an hour and it is the best I have heard him sound in a year or more. It was just wonderful. We both kept remarking on how good it was to talk...I think it was partly because we both had plenty of breath with which to speak!**bg** He knows he neglected some warning signs and this time is making some important changes as he figures he's used up close to all of those nine lives we "cats" get.:-) He is keeping his oxygen sat rates up just fine, without extra oxygen, the ulcers look good; he is "eating like a horse" and feels great. The only thing left is for them to start him on coumadin, again, to prevent blood clots, then send him home. So, he can rightly sing, "I'll be home for Christmas!" Hollowfox, you'll be glad to know Karen took the day off, kept the boys at home and is getting some good rest and having fun fixing dinner. True Confession: I didn't get this printed off and sent to him, partly because it grew so fast, it would've been scads of pages. I don't feel too badly now that I know he will be home soon and is eager to read it himself. Oh, Happy Day! Thanks ya'll, luvyalat |
Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: GUEST,the Royal Forkers Date: 15 Dec 05 - 09:07 PM We, the Royal Forkers of Mississippi, feel indebted to Mr. Spaw for his part in giving us a neat-o job working on Pa and Cleetuses bar b que pit back when our Royal When we heard that Mr. Spaw was feeling poorly and suffering greatly, we, The Royal Forkers of Mississippi, gather many stones, bricks and what-not together and put our brains, hearts and backs to work and erected him a grand obelisk that looks like a mighty schlong. The good folks of our good state have traveled & traversed far and near to see the erection and all stand amazed and bewildered at the site. The ladies often swoon in rapture as they read the inscription below the erection which features the world famous poem, written by Mr. Spaw, which we now include in its entirety below: ODE TO MY PHALLUS O Phallus, my phallus, why art thou so teeny? T'would be a Prize, if ye were even half the size Of an Oscar Meyer weinie. O phallus my phallus, why art thou so teeny They taught me much, they taught me well To mine own self be true To do my own thing Alas, my own thing is much too little to do O Phallus my phallus why art thou so wee T'would give me much pleasure if thou wouldst only measure At least two inches, or three O Phallus, my Phallus Why art thou so wee I saw her there, so beautiful and fair I was filled with desire To stoke her lust into a bright flame, Into a raging fire. Sweet words, wine ,and poetry Music so soft, Surely that would do the trick She giggled and tittered Then she guffawed "I've not even seen a candle with such a small wick!" Have I angered the ancients, those powerful gods Who created this kit'n'kaboodle That they should give others such wonderful rods And leave me with this pitiful noodle. O Phallus, my Phallus Why art thou so damned short! The End We love you, Brother! The Royal Forkers of Mississippi |

Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: katlaughing Date: 18 Dec 05 - 05:40 PM You are welcome, bw and all. Larry, that sounds good! UPDATEJust spoke with Himself. WOW! He sounds better than he has in a couple of years. His pulse ox is running at 96 with no extra O2, during activity and all! (Didja hear that El Swanno?!) All of the docs, but his primary care physician, have signed off on him and is free to go as soon as they do one more scope which will be tomorrow, sometime. He will NOT go home, on his insistence, until they start him on the coumadin, at least for a couple of days. His goal is to be home at least a day or two before Christmas. He feels great! Thanks so much for all of your help, Mudcatters! luvakat |

Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: MMario Date: 19 Dec 05 - 08:37 AM I ran into this interesting item saturday - and immedietly thought of 'spaw. A singing dancing chicken - and the shutoff switch is in the neck. when you shut it off, the eyes bulge, the tongue sticks out, the limbs flail about and the chicken gags, chockes, and shuts down. Music, entertainment and anger management all in one item! |

Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: katlaughing Date: 19 Dec 05 - 08:36 PM UPDATE - Sorta:-)Well, they don't know the results of the scan, officially, but the word amongst the nurses is the ulcers are healing well. Karen and he both think his doc will probably want to wait a couple more days before starting the rat poison (coumadin) so, he may still be there for Christmas. They both sounded upbeat about it and said they'd just bring Christmas to the hospital. Pat's bored and frustrated that he can't be home to do some shopping online, so I told him "Santa" had already done some, not to worry. (You know who you are!) Anywho, that's the news for today. I will probably call him again on Wednesday and post what's what, then. Thanks, again, folks. You are all really special and incredible friends. luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: MMario Date: 20 Dec 05 - 08:52 AM the word amongst the nurses is the ulcers are healing well - while I am sure this is true - my first thought was "of coirurse they would say that - it's the only way they'll get rid of him" - which of course is an unworthy thought and I ap[ologize to all his nurses. |

Subject: RE: BS: One more time, for Spaw, please From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Dec 05 - 04:14 PM To say the nine lives are about used up is understatement as is saying that I have some great friends in this strange place. Saying thank you isn't enough yet it's the best I can offer and I can assure you it comes from deep in my heart. This one was far too near a thing. I was actually between the rock and hard place in the most real of ways and it wasn't looking good. Many thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers and for all you did for Karen. Someday soon I'll tell you about her from a standpoint I have rarely described her before. She was warmed by this place once again and we both thank all of you for so much that words aren't really sufficient. I'm home and feeling great, breathing better than I have in probably the past three or four years. I'm feeling pretty strong but it's amazing how quickly you lose all stamina after being intubated. One Doc said it takes 3-4 weeks rehab for every day past one that you're on a vent. Strong as I feel right now I was amazed at how quickly I ran down after getting home. But believe me, I am taking it easy and doing it right as I think I've gone to the "More Luck than Good Sense" bag once too often already. But enough of this serious sounding crappola.......I have a few good stories which I'll post over the next few weeks including a wonderful piece of irony that Paw and Cletus fans will enjoy. Once again, our thanks and our own best wishes back to you all. Have some great holidays and enjoy the company of friends and family. Spaw |
