Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: gnu Date: 20 Mar 07 - 09:58 AM It's snowing here. White, green, white, green, white.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: ranger1 Date: 20 Mar 07 - 10:29 AM Gnu, you forgot the grimy, grey stage between white and green. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: GUEST,bbc at work Date: 20 Mar 07 - 10:45 AM Nice thread, but I prefer the years when Spring starts on the 20th, since it's my birthday! best from NY (with snow on the ground), bbc |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: Metchosin Date: 20 Mar 07 - 10:54 AM It was hailing and then snowing here a few minutes ago.....rather wet and windy, but its supposed to be sunny and 10C by this afternoon. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: autolycus Date: 20 Mar 07 - 11:23 AM For me,irrespective of the weather,Ist march is first day of Spring. Then each season can be 3 months long. Works for me. Otherwise, ist day of Summer is 21st June then sometimes a lot of Wimbledon tennis tournament takes place in Spring,'n' that's not right. Also,Winter begins on shortest day of year? and summer on longest? Surely not. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: Ebbie Date: 20 Mar 07 - 01:03 PM We're under a Severe Weather Warning. sigh |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: Donuel Date: 21 Mar 07 - 06:22 AM There are some purple pink flowering trees starting to bloom here. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: bobad Date: 21 Mar 07 - 06:41 AM -20°C here this AM, spring hah! |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: JennyO Date: 21 Mar 07 - 08:20 AM I just watched Daylia's link, and I have to agree with Amos. It IS truly awful - almost un-bear-able. Are those guys serious? Makes me glad it's not the first day of spring here. On the other hand, autumn is very slow in getting going here in Oz. Still more hot days on the horizon yet it appears. Daylight Saving finishes on the weekend - far too early in my opinion. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: *daylia* Date: 21 Mar 07 - 09:51 AM Yup -- I figured that bear would be better off in permanent hibernation, myself. But it tickled me funnybone nonetheless ... sick, twisted person that I can be! :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: JennyO Date: 21 Mar 07 - 10:41 AM Yeah, I know what you mean, Daylia - I mean, I did actually watch the whole thing. What does that say about me ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: GUEST,HiLo Date: 21 Mar 07 - 11:01 AM Bloody freezing here, eight inches of grimey grey ice on the pond at the bottom of the garden, so I still don't know if the frogs and fish survived the winter. Spring indeed! |
Subject: RE: BS: Ah, the First Day of Spring! From: *daylia* Date: 21 Mar 07 - 07:31 PM Seems a little confused out there, all right. It was freezing cold and snowing here this morning, changed to rain this afternoon. Now, its freezing rain. Oh, good! That'll help solidify all the mud. |
