Have a good weekend.

Me and her Dameship are off doing missionary work in Holmfirth.
We'll be doing a spoons workshop in yer actual Sid's Café from Last of the Summer Wine.
Do we get folk points for that?

I'll work on the inflatable idea for merchandising. I once made a flat me out of a foam bedroll (for a panto - ask me sometime!).
The Victorians used to use cut out people to fill a room, and you can buy inflatable "companions" for in the car (Driving! Wipe that smirk off your face!).

Inflatable Pattie? - not too difficult.
Inflatable George? - you'd need a foot pump.
Inflatable Shellbacks? -    hang on...

It might be wellie weather this weekend, although Saturdays forecast is good. Great pity that we don't have a prototype inflatable, it might have come in handy to sail in. 'I name this inflatable The Indefatiguable Splotty. May the Gods bless her and all who sail in her'

Thanks to everyone who came and stayed singing for the weekend. Really excellent singing. Thanks to Frank, Sue and Dave at the Fox and Hounds for the brilliant birthday cake. Next year we will get to the top of the Tor to hear Jim sing 'Where Raven's Feed'[weather permitting].
PS The sun's shining!

We've dripped our way back home safely, and are currently in the process of drying out. We're now tending the little rhubarb patch (I knew there was a hidden motive for buying the new house) with the greatest of care.

Thanks to Kath and Jon for another wonderful F & H weekend - and dinner!

Looking forward to next years session of Bendigo abuse and additional lessons in the benifits of rhubarb.

cheers to all

J & B

Just hope all the Ten-Tor people were brought down safely - that was a lot of rain!

Thanks so much to Kathy & Jon for keeping this special 'award-winning' event going, fantastic work. Really looking forward to next year and hearing Jim singing on top of the Tor - what a worthy Winner! But in the meantime, see you all at Bude!

Hope to see some of you very soon at Bude (i may have torn all my hair out by then). As far as I have heard all were got off the moor safely, if a little wet! Hopefully next year we can trudge to the tor to sing, practise your bird songs.......

Next years dates will be 10, 11, 12 May which means Hawker can hold Bude on 17,18,19, Chippenham will be the week after and you can all take a weeks holiday and carry on singing all week and we'll have a house full! Book your beds now. How about that for planning!!! [Guess what, it's raining again]. Hils ~ All the kids got off the moor OK. All safe.

Wet yes, but at least the rain came down, unlike the last year at the Elephants Nest where it was horizontal. Oh the joys of camping on Dartmoor. You never know what the weather will be, or for how long.

We mustn't complain about the rain, its helping the rhubard along fine.

Thankyou very much Kathy and Jon and all the lovely people at the weekend. I went stressed and came back floating.(Ha Ha) Had a great time. Weather doesn't affect you with the warmth of those there, or was it hot air being sung out? Have it in my diary for next year as a must. But before I go a rhubarb tip. Canada Red (long thick stalks) I also believe ladies that it is extra sweet. Crimson Red (for the tall and plump. or was that it is tall and plump?)Macdonald cause you to be brilliant red however it is known for its tender skin. oooh. Not sure if any more helpful tips should be given but ensure you have the right bed before applcation of manure or fertiliser. Shouldn't wash your dirty linen in public. Keep your secrets and remember don't cover the crowns. Many thanks to all Allan

Plenty of good singing, good company, a good result on the collection ~ not so good weather ~ but we were all comfortable, warm & dry.

Well done!

Have just been reading about the wonderful effects of Rhubarb - and discovered this little gem, I thin its supposed to be serious, but the spelling mistake makes it a rib tickling piece.................

What Is Rhubarb Used for Today?
Rhubarb root contains lindleyin, a substance with estrogen-like properties.1 On this basis, extracts of rhubarb have been tried for control of menopausal symptoms. In a 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 109 women with menopause-related problems, use of a standardized Rheum rhaponticum. extract significantly improved symptoms as compared to placebo.2 Improvements were particularly seen in rate and severity of hot flashes. While this is meaningful supporting evidence, additional independent trials will be necessary to establish this rhubarb extract as a safe and effective treatment for menopause.

So Guys, if you want your women to improve their HOT FLASHES, give them more rhubarb - especially if they are menopausal!!!!!!!!!
LOL

On a more serious note, another article warned.......................
"Despite its therapeutic properties, it is however good to be cautious in its use, there is some interaction of rhubarb with some medicines for the treatment of heart problems, so go easy on the Rhubarb out there if you are on heart meds! - of course you can still use it as a splint!

Cheers, Lucy
