NO! well you should have done.
we were made to feel very welcome and the whole festival was very friendly, with all of the local artists making us feel at home and accepted. My partner and I are looking forward to returning next year.
Grumpy

You think you are grumpy, me and little legs were on our way. B+B booked, then I realised that we were hosting the Bums on the Sunday. No regrets for our session, but it must be your fault for arranging a festival that weekend. DONT'T DO IT AGAIN.!!!!! There that's better, see you next year

I was hosting singarounds at Chippenham, so missed both Bude and the Good Intent....

(At least I heard the Bums today!)

No, I didn't go to Bude, reason being that I'm already here and so didn't have to go as such.   Been here 20 years or more and I'm staying, and I'm fussy. :-)

Made it for the Saturday evening concert and it was of a very high calibre

George P sang a song written at the behest of scrump's friend, and very moving it was , then sadly we learned later that scrump had died.

George waas follwoed by Anne Lister who raised the bar with a selection of her own songs based on folk tales with a fistful of philosophy that had us spellbound.

George Wilson had to follow on and was superb with wit and wonderful songs including an R T_B number alongside R T. George is apparently available for next year too.

It waa hard to see how the 2nd half could match the 1st but it it did, but I have to go out now so will have to finish this later.

Aye! Anne Lister wez blisterin' and, of course, so wez George P.

Te be honest aah cannit remember a nicer, more friendly weekend since aah wez in Singapore in 1967 and had the 'Fruit Salad' special with a wumman of negotiable affection - Aah'll tell yez aboot it one day! - Bubblyrat might knaah what aah'm taalkin' aboot!!

Aah knaah that aah laboured the point aboot bein' available next year but aah've ownly got another 3 years of giggin' in uz and then aah'm ganna be a punter with one guitar gannin' te sessions, so aah wanna be sure aah'm in at the moment.

Once aah buy me boat (TLS dizzent knaah yet) aah wivvent hev time for much folk clubbin' - Although once aah get a map of aall the canals... ye nivvor knaah. Is Bude canal linked te the rest of the country??

Aah wez ganna make a tasteless comment there aboot 'not many seals aboot te gan clubbin' with' but aah thowt better of it

Kathy
Sorry to hear you are not well.
Food poisoning can be distressing!
Will keep it short, just in case.
Luv
Colyn.

Sitting here blushing at the nice words from Breezy and Geordie, hoping to be back myself next year because yes, this was a wonderfully friendly weekend and that Saturday concert was a treat to have been involved with.
I've been to many festivals and often find that I'm wandering around on my own a lot. This time there was no shortage of very congenial company, and such a fine standard of performers, too.

Anne

Bude was fantastic !! I love cooking, and was able to try out several dishes on Kevin, Lucy,Amber,Tamsyn,Annie, George and Vanessa, not to mention the REAL "Hawker" who is, literally ,a dog !! Conversing in DUTCH ( not Greek ! ) with George ( PAPA--HUH--YAIR--ISS , apparently----Try it !! ) and Vanessa was an unexpected but gratifyingly surreal experience,as was being told by Geordie-Peorgie ( Naval Airman (Aircraft Handler ) Wilson, G. ) that I, Bubblyrat,( Radio Electrical Mechanic (Air) Mills, R.)was the inspiration for him to buy a guitar and become a "folkie" !! It must have been the climate in Singapore in 1967, as George and I were there at around the same time as one or two other, less well known, performers ,ie David Stanley, Johnny Collins,Tom Lewis, & Terry (Leadfingers) Silver !!( And 'Old Father Ted', of course ). The climate wasn"t so good in either Bude or Stratton--the word "inclement" springs, indeed hurtles,to mind, but that minor inconvenience was more than compensated for by the "climate" in the Tree and Falcon Hotels, both noteworthy for their musically-active landlords !! I felt that an Irishman playing Scottish pipes with a Cornish flag on was also a bit surreal, as was staying in the house of a militant Cornishwoman who was born in Africa, and has a 3-legged cat, a Gay dog,a VERY militant Cornish husband who plays bhodran better than most Irishman can,and a daughter who is totally obsessed with the George Paperverdigrease song " Watermelon Seeds " !!!-----But then it was /IS that kind of festival !!

In case anyone was wondering about my previous dealings with Geordie-Peorgie all those years ago---Well, here is an enlightenment, in Nautical Parlance.---

"Tug" Wilson was an Airy-Fairy oppo of mine on the Big E ,1966-69.He was a Baby Chockhead on the Upper Scupper ( a Roof-Rat) and I ( "Bomber" Mills ) was a Pinkie in the Lower Shed. He was U/A, so couldn"t draw his tot, but I was G, and got me grog ! That"s how I became a Bubbly Rat !!But we both got bitten by the Tanglin Tiger !Now I don"t know if Georgie Caught The Boat Up or not, but it wouldn"t surprise me, as he was dead keen on Nee Soon Virgins---or was it Kai-Tais ?-- I can"t remember now! Same thing , really ,when you"re completely Shyters ,and trying to fit a Purple Piston in a Sembawang Cylinder.Anyhow, after the Aden Withdrawal ( which was nothing to do with Bagging Off (Sadly !)), we went to Singers for Crimbo,Rabbits, etc, and I got a sort of Pierhead Jump to join the Crabfats at Changi----had to learn to walk sideways ,for starters !At the time, I was in a group called "The Guinness Grenadiers " which some Big O.D. ( OK, it was me !! ) came up with after singing about MacAlpines Fusiliers. There was meself, three Fish-heads ( a Stoker-Tiff, a Greenie, and a Pinkie Killick ) a Leading Chockhead, and a Waffoo Killick Pinkie from the Flying Bananas !!Anyway, we did lots of Sod"s Operas and Messdeck Hoolies, and Georgie, being Skin at the time, must have thought of us as singing Sea-Daddies, I suppose. You"ve only got to look at him today, to see the kind of role-model(s) he chose !! I mean, who else would do a pro gig wearing Brown Hatter"s Overalls ?? I still reckon he"s Beef !!He"s obviously fond of his Scran, and some Egyptian P.T.,by the look of it !! Cheers, Oppo !!
