Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07 From: GUEST,Alison's Astrophysically-aware Ælf Date: 10 Oct 07 - 09:20 AM Yes, oh red-headed one...it is, in fact, heading north to ME!! My team of desire-fulfillment experts is reviewing your wish list carefully and searching the known universe. As specific objects are located, they are sent here to the North Pole, where my consolidation and packaging experts will prepare it for further shipping on to you. Thank you for the good thoughts, but I do not need a new GPS unit. I have eight directionally-talented reindeer to help find my way to hither and yon - and believe me, you are about as far yon as we get!! However, because of the increased demand created by this Secret Santa nonsense, I am afraid that, even with all of your obvious talents, I must consign it at some point to the postal systems of various government entities rather than rely entirely upon personal delivery. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07 From: Rapparee Date: 10 Oct 07 - 09:30 AM Dear SSSSsssssssssssss: My neighbor's house is gonna be sold at a foreclosure auction in January. It sure would be a nice present if you were to buy it for me as a late Christmas pressie. Then I could let poor but deserving folk musicians live there and have place for house concerts and all sorts of neat folking stuff. Just a hint. R |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07 From: GUEST,NOT the Missing Santa Date: 10 Oct 07 - 09:35 AM Consider the possibility that your Secret Santas are so busy seeking out just the right combination of excitement that they have no time left to write! Besides, there are so many people swearing that they are being good that Santa really has no time left to do anything but check up on them. Ah, that Bente! And Crystal...and Alison...and Megan! There are windows all over the world with noseprints on them! Mike, Leadfingers and Giok are beyond any definition of propriety already, so the Santa-Corps has given up watching them. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07 From: GUEST,Mrzzy's Unknown Distinguished Christmas Airb Date: 10 Oct 07 - 12:44 PM aaaaghhhh there was no room to put my full title, which reads Mrzzy's Unknown Distinguished Christmas Airborne Transporter (of gifts) aka MUDCAT (og) You're very quiet, aren't you? Is this a character trait or are you attempting to lull me and the reindeer into a false sense of security? Just to let you know that I'm working long hours with the NES (National Elf Service - not sure which nation, mind you)to try to sort out the best possible pressies but we have only minimal information to go on. Now I might be able to cope with this, but the Elves and the reindeer are beginning to get a little restive. As a sop to their professional scruples I've had to agree to letting the surveillance team do their stuff, so if you notice some strange flashing lights around in the next week or so, or hear the occasional thump in the night please don't be alarmed. The lights will probably be green, the thump will sound exactly like an Elf falling off a reindeer - anything else and I'd advise calling for assistance. But if you'd prefer me to cancel the whole surveillance operation, just wave at us in the next few days and we'll say no more about it. Your MUDCAT (og), signing off and assuring you of our best attention at all times... |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07-Santas, Come Pla From: Rapparee Date: 12 Oct 07 - 09:02 PM Oh Santa, I haven't been very good this year. I tried, oh how I tried, but no matter how hard I tried I seem to have failed. There was that little matter of the pasta, for example. Yes, I admit that I shouldn't have eaten it in bed, but I didn't realize that uncooked pasta would leave crumbs. And that business with the maggots, well, I was trying to raise them for fishing bait. It's hard to be good out here in Idaho, Santa, what with the Legion to lead me astray. I don't even deserve a lump of coal or a rotten potato this Christmas. (Sniff, sniff, sniffle) I'd so much like to have presents like all the others, but I don't deserve them. Give them to someone who has managed to be good, nay, even angelic, all year and not to a rotten poop-head like me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07-Santas, Come Play! From: Dave'sWife Date: 13 Oct 07 - 01:46 AM Dear Silenus Charm Elf: I've thought of a couple of CDs I'd really love to have: I was watching The Devils rejects a few months ago and was very taken with some Terry Reid songs that Rob Zombie included on the Soundrtrack - unfortunately, if I want to buy them on iTunes, I have to buy the entire soundtrack and I have all the other songs. So i looked him up and he turns out to be quite the influential but forgotten artist from the early seventies. I have obn my Amazon Wishlist 2 of his CDs: Seed of Memory River I am also very in love with a current folkish group called Hem and have none of their recordings. 2 of their songs have been used in American insurance commericals and they are both unbelievably wonderful - "Half Acre" and "The part where you let go". I would love any of their CDs or EPs which are: Rabbit Songs Home Again, Home Again Funnel cloud Enveningland Birds, Beast, Flowers No Word From Tom I'm Talking With My Mouth I would also love to have any Stephen Stills Solo material or that album he did as Manassas - the earlier the better - I'm an early seventies kind of gal. I may only have been 6 in 1970 but '70 thru '75 seems to be my big musical fave era I don't have any Chris Hillman solo stuff either and I love him. Hard to say which ones I would like. I love Steve Earle but the latest CD I have is The Mountain. The Mountain is my favortie of his post-heroin comeback records but I would love to have a copy of Train a Comin' because it has a wonderful song on it that Emmylou Harris later covered called "Goodbye". His version is just as heartbreaking as hers but for very different reasons. How's that? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Messages '07-Santas, Come Play! From: Anne Lister Date: 13 Oct 07 - 03:24 AM Dear, dear SS As a bit of a linguist myself I'm most intrigued with your forms of expression, but I suspect they're all there as distractions and diversions, concealing your inner warm core of being which is, as I now understand it, multi-national and vario-ethnic. Anyway, whoever said that about the malt and the kookaburra must have been following some other Tabster because I can promise you (a)we're not a rich enough household to purchase malt (cheap Aldi Scotch IF we're lucky) and (b) there are no kookaburras in our part of Wales. I have been as good as possible this year. There may have been one or two lapses, such as when my sat nav took me astray and I confess to saying some rude words, but really I don't think I deserve to be punished for this. Should I organise a petition of my well-wishers to persuade you further? Yours in some distress about the wrongful accusations ... Tabster. |
