Thanks Santa, I have been especially good this year, but quite busy. It has been a full year now since my unexpected near death experience and my body has fully recovered. I am leaving for my annual trip out to the Aleutian Islands next week and will probably not have much internet access, however, I look forward to hearing more from you as the season progresses. I hope you are well and enjoying your sneakiness.

Becca my dear

Santa never deals in unsubstantiated rumours Ranger 1 will have to forward documentary evidence, not that I do not already have lots of evidence from other sources and countries. However Santa thinks that on the whole you might just merit a few small goodies. Tell me my dear do you like sweet things?

As for santa's identity well I am hoping to remain hidden for a short while longer though I do have to be very careful with foreign languages.

Hello, O dear lost Santa! I've not had a post from you since October 4th and am starting to worry. I enjoy these gift exchanges immensely, and have been known to write the equivalent of short novels bouncing off the posts of my benefactors, and what's more, a Santee can even recycle characters from past years, if needs be, wheras a Santa can not.

I'm ready to do more than just wait quietly for a bountiful box of goodies if you'll but come out of hiding and throw out some sort of a line--Life, Straight, Tag or Punch. It's the way for one on the recieving end to give back, so I hope to hear from you soon and get things rolling. Time runneth short.

Besides, gruel gets old and hard if it's left out too long for elves that don't show, and then you either have to soak the bowl for a few days, or else take the stuff off with a chisel.

Well, I suppose I'd better get the presents together and get them posted since the reindeer are all down with the Great Pox at the moment (it's a long and sordid tale). All the way to The Other Side Of The World too. Ho-hum. And she hasn't even done one really naughty thing this past year -- The Bureau discovered that the report about the drunken kookaburra was the result of a mix-up in the Records Office, and you may rest assured that the responsible party has been gently and kindly reprimanded by Good Old Father Christmas and that it shan't happen ever again.

Let's see: John O' Groats to the Falklands, thence to Diego Garcia and Majorca, to the Faroes, to Qaanaaq, to Ulan Bator for a few weeks, then to Rathdrum for further sorting for shipment to Duluth, back to Belfast, mistakenly shipped to Furstenau and then to Castle Rising in East Anglia, a refusal by the Bishop of Ely, return to John O' Groats, reposted, and as the circle slowly shrinks Tabster will get her pressie package about Michaelmas next. I hope that the yak butter is still fresh, the kvass drinkable, and the freshly caught salmon...well anyway.

Dear Santa

Your delivery system sounds uncannily like one that we experienced a year or so back when expecting an electronic part from Frankfurt. But I'm sure you know what you're doing, and there are, after all, many miles between us (aren't there?). I was taken aback by the drunken kookaburra story, but I suppose someone got confused between South Wales and New South Wales (easily done). I'm in the original one, but then you knew that.

Anyway, I hope the reindeer recover soon. Yak butter and kvass probably have an indefinite shelf life, but it might be an idea to smoke the salmon. On the other hand, when I re-read this I have a nasty image of an elf with a rolled up salmon fillet hanging out of his mouth ....

In any case we'll make sure we clean out the chimney in readiness.

Thank you, Santa!

Other elves and slightly bigger friends from your past will be or have given helpful information. Not quite enough accumulated to call a pile yet, but it's getting there!

Why, of course, esteemed Santa-BOSS (or would that be BOSS-Santa?), I'm always behaving. Sometimes good, sometimes a teeny weeny fraction less than that, but if the question is as asked "have you been behaving?", then definitely the answer is a resounding yes.

Santa, to be honest I cook as little as I can get away with without actually starving. I don't know much about it, and I honestly thought it were chicken (it tasted like chicken), but if you say there's people in it, maybe I should dump the left-overs that I put in the freezer before the police come around knocking on my door?

Dunno, but I found I got along really well with that crazy bullfrog and his mad English woman wife. But then we do have a saying here that goes "You don't have to be crazy to be here, but it sure helps!" :o)

Best wishes,

Bente

So...Santa has to get those playful reindeer into work mode sometime before the end of December?

Maybe they'll like the woods of Nottingham so much they'll decide to stay -- we have wood sprites and elves, too, although the general population around here denies it.

Playful reindeer would fit right in.

I did notice you kept mum on the question of whether you have anything to confess prior to the 24th. Is that the same as pleading The Fifth?
