Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: Charlie Baum Date: 26 Apr 99 - 11:58 PM Lyle Lovett! (though I first heard it from Dan Schatz...) |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: ddw in windsor Date: 27 Apr 99 - 01:11 AM definitely a Lyle Lovett song, tho' I'm not 100% sure he wrote it. It's on his PONTIAC album, readily available.... ddw |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: ddw in windsor Date: 27 Apr 99 - 01:16 AM just checked COWPIE and it's there. It's called If I Had A Boat and you can get to it by searching by artist, click L, then Lyle Lovett and presto! I'd love to just give you one of those nifty blue links, but I'm not swift enough at the HTML stuff. Maybe one of the local whizzes will do it for you. cheers, ddw |
Subject: If I Had a Boat - Lyle Lovett From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Apr 99 - 01:21 AM Click here for the lyrics. Better yet, buy Lovett's "Pontiac" album. I think it may be his best - or at least his funniest album. "She's Hot to Go" is my favorite song on the album. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: Rick Fielding Date: 27 Apr 99 - 02:24 AM The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation played a Lyle Lovett concert on the radio a couple of weeks ago. I was driving a long distance and started to listen as I had forgotten my tapes. I'd heard him a few times and liked what I heard but I wasn't prepared for a FABULOUS concert. Just him and guitar. Funny, literate, great picking. Now tell me: What the Hell did he see in Julia Roberts??!! |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: ddw in windsor Date: 28 Apr 99 - 12:06 AM Well Rick, you may like women who look like mudcats, but he just likes them that look like guppies. ddw |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: Rick Fielding Date: 28 Apr 99 - 10:42 AM Now I'm not saying that Julia would be unwelcome on Mudcat. I would be fascinated with the odd thread on collagen. Shut up Rick! |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: ddw in windsor Date: 29 Apr 99 - 01:15 AM Sorry, Rick. You lost me with the collagen reference. I know what it is, but unless you're referring to how she got the lips I just can't make it out. BTW, I always wondered -- on the rare occasion that I had to look at her -- if those were implants, but I saw a picture of her brother and he looks just like her. Maybe we should just forget this and stick to music, eh? ddw |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: Joe Offer Date: 29 Apr 99 - 01:44 AM Yeah, ddw, I was going to say something about Lyle having a collagen fetish, since it's rumored that Julia Roberts had collagen injections to fatten her lips. Well, no matter, she seems like a nice person. She did a nice job in "Stepmom," I think. I think Lyle Lovett lost out by not following up on Mary-Chapin Carpenter's wishing he had his hand on her thigh. Now, there's a thinking man's woman.... Whatever the case, he sure makes great music - and he's even better in concert. You keep thinking, "Did he just say what I THOUGHT he said?" He's really clever at slipping in his subtle humor when you don't expect it. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: i'll ride my pony on my boat on the ocean... From: okscout Date: 01 May 99 - 11:23 PM and all this time I thought that song was by Jimmy Buffet. Wonders never cease. |
