You'll see why I labeled this BS in a minute.

The local newspapers have reported that Lyle Lovett had a run in with a bull recently. He was visiting his uncle Calvin Klein { not THAT Calvin Klein } in Klein Texas. They were in a field with a bull that charged Calvin. The bull had him down on the ground and was attempting to stomp his head in { the bull was pissed off } when Lyle ran up and smacked the bull over the head with his hat to distract it. The bull turned his attention to Lyle while Calvin made it to safety. Lyle had almost made it over a fence when the bull caught up to him and mangled one of his legs against the fence. Friends pulled Lyle to safety. His leg was broken 20 times. Nine big fragments and a lot of little ones. They expect he will have to go through six months of physical therapy - but he'll keep the leg.

Lyle apparently acted bravely and was credited with saving his uncle's life. Lesson learned - don't mess around with bulls.

TWENTY times????? I'd heard that a bull messed him up, but I had no idea it was that bad. Man, Lyle is going to be able to predict when it's about to rain... in Hawaii.

Mistake #1: "They were in a field with a bull". Not a nice place to visit.

Mistake #2: "Lyle ran up and smacked the bull over the head with his hat"... instead of a 2x4 (I'm not sure that would've been an improvement, though).

I read that the bull's name was "Cotton" and it was Lovett's pet!

Now, the really important question is did they have their Calvin Kleins on? Be a hell of an advertisment is they did!*bg*

Seriously, it sounds as though he was very brave and I am glad he will be okay.

After a bull incident like that, I'm not sure the Calvins would be viewable. Only suitable for advertising purposes if Calvin Klein make washing powder I would think.....

Lyle; Hell, what a guy! I mean, he's an incredible songwriter and musician. He does pretty well in the movies (not male lead material, of course, but passable; see Cookie's Fortune or the one with Tim Robbins about Hollywood, where Lyle plays a cop.) He's a great performer; check out his show if you get the chance. And now it turns out the guy has balls of iron to boot. Way to go Lyle. Godd bless and get well soon. SB

Mind you, after being married to Julia Roberts..

I hope the Lad gets well soon, even if he is extremely talented.

All I have heard of Lyle is that he is one genuinely nice, kind hearted man. I wish him all the best in his recovery...and frankly, he can do a lot better than Julia "I'm so vain, I probably think this song is about me" Roberts.

Maybe he'll meet a nice caring nurse...

When I first heard he'd been injured, I was afraid his taste for motorcycles had finally caught up with him. I live two blocks from Klein, Texas--I can show you where he goes to church when he's home. Actually, I saw him in concert in Des Moines, Iowa, of all places; somebody in the audience had their baby with them and every time the lights flashed off the face of Lyle's guitar, the baby would squeal (it was quiet otherwise). He thought it was pretty funny--every once in awhile between songs he would turn the guitar a little to hear the baby laugh.

Ya know, I just don't get the ugly thing. But I know it's out there. I've got his friend who I think looks alot like him. So a bunch of us are together one night, and I say "hey man, you know you look alot like Lyle Lovett?". And there's this ilence around the table like I'd just slapped the guy or something. I mean I meant it as a compliment 'cause I really respect Lyle, but needless to say it didn't get taken that way. That one took some backing out of let me tell ya!! SB
