Somehow I know, even though our Pens lost several of our favorite players, I'll soon be totally re-addicted, again. With a DVR this year to smooth out the schedule conflicts, I may actually stop watching all the great IFC movies! A new summer addiction coming to a hiatus. Some of you may recall our annual plan to rearrange the LR furniture-- away from the drafty windows, closer to the heat registers, and (purely by happenstance) closer to the TV. The need for heat just happens to coincide with the hockey-season weather.... This year it also coincides with the annual arrival of Hardi's mom to visit our parish's Antique Show; the summer LR configuration is nicer for guests, but the minute she leaves-- or maybe she can help me do it before she leaves!!!-- it's hockey configuration! :~) So I'm wondering-- what do y'alls think of your hockey team(s) for the year, and what's about to change in your lifestyle as the season opens? What leagues/levels do you watch, and what games can you attend in person (be still my beating heart)? Did Peace ever get home TV coverage, or what will he do? How will Texas Guest fare (he has a membername now)? Which new Mudcatter will not realize how fun and mutually encouraging the hockey threads, here, can be, and temporarily (it is hoped) adopt a trash-talk posting style as if this is any other hockey MB? (BTW, isn't it kinda funny that the nicest Mudcat threads are the hockey threads?) And who will vie for the Cup? Feel free to link-in past threads..... where whose team(s) are which(es) (and where my choice to call it "Ice" Hockey) are all discussed sufficently. Thinking of you, ~Susan |

Should be an interesting year as we are now affiliated with Buffalo (last year was Aneheim)so it's going to be a whole new group. I know nothing about Buffalo and I'm excited to see the new guys. I'm also excited to see my Caps this year. I was very sad to see Olie go (he's one of my favorite players) but I'm pumped for Theo to come to town. I just hope his wheels don't fall off...Theo of 6-7 years ago was unstoppable, now not so much. |

He's a pretty boy, but when he's in the mood he can back it up! I'm also excited to see Alex Ovechkin again this year. That kid is just plain FUN to watch. I was spoiled with our AHL team because we were affiliated with Washington for something like 12 years and then they moved to Hershey and The Ducks came to town..I wasn't thrilled with the Ducks and I'm happy to see them leave, but it's a whole new team to learn this year. Hopefully that's a good thing. :-) |

I also book the refs for about 1000 games a year. So I'm kind of glad the season is now upon us. As for my team, I'm so proud of the last 41 fruitless years that I wear a Canadiens jacket. They have embarrassed us all, the whole Hahira delegation! |

I think that Ottawa may not be quite as good as last year. I think Carolina will be a bit better. I think this might be Detroit's year again. I'm still struggling with my very mediocre Fighting Irish football team to get too much in to hockey yet; but, that said, I do read the Free Press on-line to keep up with the Red Wings happenings - which are very few these days; and, The Hockey News on-line to see if Shanahan makes it back to the Rangers, goes to some other team, or retires. The Red Wings are certainly picked by most pundits to repeat as the Stanley Cup Champs especially with the acquisition of Marion Hossa; but hey, it's a long season and anything can happen. Now, please know that I stand side-by-side here with Beer, and Big Mick can't be too far away either, so - GO RED WINGS!!! Cheers,...................mwh |

But we missed the whole hockey world between Tony Esposito and Sid the Kid. So the bio's are actually very interesting. But alas, for now I must content myself with mining the music channels for workout music (line into MP3 recorder from headphone jack, then clip tracks with Total Recorder.) Of course, I'm not a part of the coaching staff and I trust them fully; but, I don't think I'd break up a line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg on it - but again, I'm not a coach. There seems to be very little feedback in here lately, but, it is early in the season; however, we will keep refreshing as needed just to keep it alive and running. As for my guys, well, they're doing fine on the road and Hossa got a game-winner in OT the other night to give them their first victory of the year at "The Joe."
