Has no-one else found this? Listening to it now. One hour 38 minutes of Maddy Prior and guests in concert at Cecil Sharp House, recorded on 23rd October 2008.

Actually I've said it's on i-player in the thread title, but I've just realised that I found it by Googling "Electric proms", after I heard bits of it on Mike Harding on Wednesday whilst on my way to Otley Folk Club.

Just checked, can't find it on i-player, so perhaps some kind soul could change the thread title to "Maddy Prior on BBC Electic Proms".

Find it here, then click on Artists K-M.

Or even "Maddy Prior on BBC Electric Proms". That would be better!

Why can't you find it on the iPlayer ?

(Complete with Tim Hart's outrageous tan).

So brilliant. Made me dig out my Silly Sisters CD so long unlistened to. Now determined to learn songs that my daughter Andie tried to get me to learn and sing with her something like a decade ago.

The version on iPlayer is only a 30 minute extract and is only available until 12:59am Monday 3rd November, unless you download it, in which case you can keep it for 30 days.

Not sure how long the Electric Proms site will be there, but that version is 1 hour 38 minutes. Don't seem to be able to download it, but I guess you could capture the sound using Audacity or similar.

The song 'Hush, Hush' written by Maddy Prior according to the sleeve notes was in fact written by me in 1963.

Anyone know how to download the .flv video file streaming by rtp from the Electric Proms site? Orbit Downloader's Grab++ will usually do it, but something seems to have changed on the BBC site. I'd like to keep a copy (you know how incompetent the BBC are at that....)

Perhaps it was me, or perhaps because I was watching over iPlayer with headphones, but the sound mix seemed very unbalanced. The cello was very prominent, the guitar not far behind, while John K's squeezeboxes were almost inaudible (it's not often you can write that!).

Apart from the duet with June Tabor, the other vocalists were almost inaudible too. OK, Maddy Prior was the "star" but to treat the harmony vocals like backing vocals and mix them right back seemed to miss the point. There seemed to be some interesting stuff going on, but I could hardly hear it.

A good show though, and a reminder of what a stunning singer Maddy Prior is.

I agree, you could hardly hear Tim Hart, very disappointing.

I did enjoy the last song - Staines Morris? and isn't that the same tune which follows Tam Lyn Retold on The Imagined Village CD?

This is weird...
I tried the link from Singing Ref, but it gave me only 38 seconds of video clip which then abruptly cut off.
The i-player link Diane mentioned is "no longer available", even though it's not yet 12.59!
The Radio 2 Listen Again has Mike Harding's show, but that again is only extracts.
Where then is this 1 hr 38 minutes?..

Oh dear, good old BBC!

They've chopped the video on the Electric Proms down to 40 minutes.

What a shame! Why!

Is it likely they will re-air the Electric Proms on telly? I mean I would pay to have a DVD if they cannot afford to keep it online.

We should make some complaints to the BBC and some demands. I mean given the Ross & Brand debacle, BBC is pretty much a pushover.

May I ask, since I was having trouble with links on the above site, which one of the fellows (other than John K) with Maddy was Tim Hart? Not trying to confuse with the other thread on here abot Tim Hart, I just didn't see anyone that looked like him!

irishenglish - sadly BBC has cut the video clip down to next to nothing. The bit that is left does not have Tim Hart in it.

So annoying.

Couldn't tell you. I only saw the ending of the show once, when she was thanking all the performers and don't remember the names of her back up musicians. Did a google for it and found only Maddy Prior and Friends including Rose Kemp, June Tabor and Tim Hart.

The violinist was Giles Lewin (ex Bellowhead) who is also in a fantastic duo with Vivien Ellis. The guitarist is someone whose name I temporarily do not recall, so apologies to him.
