Subject: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Bobert Date: 26 Nov 08 - 05:11 PM Well, well, well... Seems that this ol' hillbilly has a lot to be thankful for this year... The Reg Boys ain't comin' for Thanksgiving tops my list... I got to the Getaway... Looks as if we have an even chance of seein' the end of the Bush administration real soon... California didn't fall into the ocean or burn completely down/up... The Mudwomenz is more beautiful than ever... I didn't break one geetar string this year... The pot harvest was adaquate... The P-Vine is still here... In spite of everyone talking about going green, the blues is still the blues... Word on the street is that banjos are going to be made illegal under Obama... Didn't break any bones... Okay a few cut but no broken bones... Got P-Vine's son here with his family and he loves to cook so, "Have at it youngin' 'cause it ain't my bag"... 12 pack of Iron City in the icebox... The Redskins beat the Cowboys... Sparky and Rhonda Rucker visited... I survived the massauge therapist (barely)... And, sniff, I have all you wonderful people who somehow have managed to put up with me yet another year her in Mudville... I mean, far as this ol' hillbilly is concerned the glass is half unbroken... So Happy Thanksgiving to you all and feel free to share what you are thankful for, as well... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: katlaughing Date: 26 Nov 08 - 11:24 PM Happy Thanksgiving to all! I wrote what I am gratefull for over on the other thread. One thing I didn't list, though, was, after too many years of not being able to cook, then getting healthier and starting to help out with holiday dinners again, this year my pumpkin pies, famous and made from scratch, turned out perfect, crust and all! I can hardly wait to have a piece tomorrow! |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: GUEST,Comrac Date: 27 Nov 08 - 06:14 AM Wasn´t this a sit down meal with Indians and for afters they stole their land ? Correct me if I am wrong. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Irene M Date: 27 Nov 08 - 03:01 PM Happy Thanksgiving folks. Thank you for Mudcat. Irene on the other side of the ocean. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: gnu Date: 27 Nov 08 - 03:41 PM Comrac... you are wrong. Nobody stole any land. The Europeans came to NA and developed the land. And, the "Indians" give thanks that they did. Well, the ones getting modern medicine, driving automobiles, living in modern houses, participating in a fair and equitable system of "land ownership"... get the pic? Nobody STOLE any land because nobody owned any land. NObody OWNS land, even under the European system. Default on your property taxes and you'll find out REAL quick. And, before you say the "Indians" didn't have taxes... blah, blah, blah... that's right... and they didn't have a fair and equitable system of "land use" either. The Europeans did... and now they do as well. And, it is fair for ALL. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 27 Nov 08 - 04:10 PM Happy Thanksgiving, Bobz....and everyone else out there in the US. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Severn Date: 27 Nov 08 - 04:30 PM Comrac, Someday things will get straightened out and evened up when we finally someday decide to elect a Native American President on the strength of reading his wartime memoirs, "Teepee 109". Until that day, we'll all have to just remember the good times and sweep the bad ones under the Navajo rug... |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Bat Goddess Date: 27 Nov 08 - 07:03 PM It's nice to have a holiday that is basically feel good, give thanks and eat to satiation. Sure, it's a thanksgiving combined with a harvest festival (a little late, actually) but what it really comes down to is having a feast with friends. We've shared our feast with a friend -- and done a bunch o' singing as well. Great fun. Tomorrow, however, will be another world entirely. Alas, I'm now working retail and I'll be at the MALL (of all places) on Black Friday. Ah, well...it's a new experience. (Not necessarily a good one.) Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving!!! From: Jeri Date: 27 Nov 08 - 07:56 PM I'm thankful for good friends. Some of whom cook. A few years ago, it was a juvenile moose I met on the way home from Bat Goddess & Curmudgeon's. This year, it was a juveniled bear. Well, I didn't get that good a look and it was trying to get out of the road, but it was about 4' tall, black and fury. I'm going to be deflating for a while. There isn't a table big enough, but I'm thankful for my friends, and I wish I could be with all of them today. |
