Ron wrote this last night
it is awesome. Great job Ron!!

Ron Bankley - Jabaliya

JABILIYA
(Ron Bankley)

I caught you looking, gazing across the Strip
From the safety of viewpoints within that comfortable grip
It's hard to grasp fast shadows from the corner of your eye
They can't shout down the silence, but at least they try

There's a ringing in my ears that just won't subside
I'm losing track of the years and how many more have died
Here comes the cavalry, there goes the neighbourhood
Just a stone's throw from Calvary, where someone else got nailed real good

Still gambling at the foot of the Cross, the Crescent and the Star,
All the chosen henchmen tell us how lucky we really are....

There'll be no jambalaya in Jabaliya tonight
Not much cause to celebrate, we just wait out the fight
There's a shortage of ingredients, expedience shot out the lights
So there'll be no jambalaya in Jabaliya tonite

Out in the badlands we have little left to bet
Robber barons come to collect some neglected debt
We aimed arrows at their iron horse that drove us from our land
To confine us to the bitterness of the heavy hand

Willy Pete came calling again, blowing lots of smoke
Every time he's let out, things get burnt and broke
While the dealer shows no mercy, he wears a poker face
The stakes just got a lot higher as he palms another ace

Still gambling at the foot of the Cross, the Crescent and the Star
Pinned on the chest of frontier justice that thrust us behind bars
The slick-tongue ambassador smiles just like a stiletto
We still fail to get the joke down here in the ghetto

There'll be no jambalaya in Jabilya tonite
No happy songs and dances, chances are we might
End up on the wrong end of some retaliatory strike
So there'll be no jambalaya in Jabaliya tonight
No jambalaya in Jabaliya tonight

I caught you looking, gazing across the Strip

The guy sits down last night, writes a dang masterpiece, records it on his home recording studio and it sounds like it was done in a big time studio over several months.

Dang Ron!
you set the bar high ... wow

Hey, Ron, there's some guy on Youtube who looks lots like you and he's sounds like you, too.

Man, it is BEAUTIFUL.

And so are you.

Bruce

good morning... I'm glad that it says something to you... I've been chuggin' along nearing the completion of the next CD, while getting back to a couple of Bruce's songs and adding something to an Eddie Reid track.... then 'Peace on Earth' falls to Pieces.... again, sideswiped by the news from both sides... and feeling bad about it all from far away... this is what came out... I usually sit on new 'material' for a bit longer, but this pony threw me off, jumped the fence and just kept going...
just had to get out, maybe raise some spirits.... so if you see her, tell her I'm proud.... and so fortunate to have music in my life and co-conspirators like y'all..

ps don't know about Dylan moving over but I do detect some Murdoch-esque lines lurking about.... many strong influences at play for the right reasons...... that's what I love about music in general and 'Folk' in particular...

I'll try to record something so you can just keep the guitar out.

I just saw 'Hook' and there was a scene where Peter Pan (played by Robin Williams) was leaving and telling the kids to take care of all the ones littler than they. The littlest kid asked, 'Who do I watch out for?' Peter/Williams replied, 'Never-bugs.'

There will always be 'Neverbug' guitar players, and they will need to look up to the next rung in the ladder and NOT straight to the top.

Gotta fire up the laptop and have a listen.

cool... this song might not be on it... just one of those that I felt that folks might appreciate right now.... but it could be added at the end as a bonus cut...we'll see, already have 12.. lots of goodtime stuff as well.. I have time to decide...
The Cafe is a good place to test drive new tunes, kinda like the old folk workshop in Mtl. but in cyberspace...
thanks, more later R.

I notice that all the videos have gone from your youtube, Dan. I hope that it won't be long before you put some more up; I've been really impressed with your channel.

In the meantime I'll go to myspace to listen to Jabaliya. Don't need to for Bruce's songs because I have the CD :-) .

It's gone! From Youtube, that is.... :0(

Can we have 'Jabaliya' back 'out there' again, Ron? I can find it via Myspace, but nowhere else at present...
