Sorry about the above, hit the enter key by mistake! Stupid boy!
However, Kiveton Park Folk Club (Nr. Sheffield) is open EVERY Tuesday night without fail. Eight guests a year with singers nights between. We're mainly trad but you'll not get chucked out if you do a bit of contemporary stuff, the regulars are very accommodating and very encouraging. New folks welcome anytime, either to sing, play, or just listen. ALL perormers get a chance to do their bit. Theres a cheap bar, free tea and coffee for the non-imbibers, free grub in the beer break and a lovely atmosphere. A quid in the ashtray on singers nights and the entrance fee has never been over a fiver for guest nights. Past and future guests include the likes of Pete Coe, Brian Peters, Louis Killen, John Kirkpatrick, The H.L Ranters, Keith Kendrick, Napper/Bliss and Robin Laing. Been running continuously for 36 years, so we must be doing summat right! Website at www.kivetonfolk.fsnet.co.uk, have a look!

Regards
Andy

There is a new music poetry forum in Frederick, Maryland called WHAP! (a Weekly Happening with Audience Participation) It is an open mike show scheduled in advance by local artist Shortbread (Jim Wagner). It features 15-20 minute sets by usually 6-8 performers per evening. All performers doing a complete set receive a share of audience tips, and get feedback from the audience (the 'audience particiapation' part of it) via comment cards around the venues. WHAP! happens at 3 venues on different evenings in Frederick, Maryland; Sunday evenings 7-9 at the Friends Meeting House (723 N. Market Street), Monday evenings 6:30-8:30 at Jennifer's Restaurant (207 W. Patrick Street), Thursday evenings 7-9 at the Mudd Puddle (124 S. Carroll Street.) Contact Shortbread at 301-682-4836 or rengawpj@hotmail.com if you are interested in performing or attending. Thanks,

Jim (Shortbread)
