Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Barry Finn Date: 02 Sep 09 - 11:31 PM I was talking about your bed Amos, Dani said her bed wasn't squeaking. Now that the subject's come up I do remember the time when the 5 of us bunked in one room. I had the single bunk by the window. Were you on the top or the bottom & I can't remember if you sqeaked or not?? HA,HA,HA |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: GUEST,KT not logged in Date: 03 Sep 09 - 03:13 AM Okay, you're all making this sound like a whole lotta fun...I'm working on logistics but I still have quite a few details to work out before I can know for sure......like...time off work, airline tickets, (flying into and out of Reagan) lodging for the 24th, 1st, and 5th, rides to & from Getaway, and Chance & Suzette's, bedding.......geez, I ask for a lot, don't I? If anyone can assist with any of those little details, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks in advance, ever so much, for any help you might be able to offer! If it can all come together, I'm hoping to see you all. It's been too long! I've been listening to my Mudcat CDs in eager anticipation! KT |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: GUEST,Janie Date: 03 Sep 09 - 01:32 PM Oh Yes! Make it happen KT. It would grand to see you there. (and I wonder if Ebbie might fit into a piece of carry-on?) |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Bill D Date: 03 Sep 09 - 03:00 PM Oh, wonderful! KT again? And Ebbie....if at ALL possible. We all would pool our resources and manage lodging & transport. (and BWI 'tends' to be better access than Dulles or Reagan, unless you have special reasons.) |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: GUEST,Dani Date: 03 Sep 09 - 03:50 PM Hey, kids, I'm looking at flights, now. If I play my cards right, I might even make it up Thur p.m.! Question is, where is BWI in relation to you? Should I rent a car from there, and thence to Getaway? Or, are there enough people getting in to BWI Friday that I should time it that way and carpool? Dani |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Bobert Date: 03 Sep 09 - 07:48 PM KT comin' to the Getaway!?!?!?.... Geeze... I can just see it now... She gains yet another audition for the BobertsBlueBand and I gotta fire her yet again and spend another tortured guilt filled years... Think I'll just stay home... (But, Bobert... Aren't you KT's #1 Adorning Fan???) Well, yeah, I am... (Well, then you can't stay home...) This is a set up... B;~ |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: KT Date: 04 Sep 09 - 03:05 AM Thanks everyone! I can't wait to see you all! I have an airline reservation, but am still trying to figure out rides and lodging. Bill, I am flying in and out of DC (Reagan/National), not Baltimore. I wish it were otherwise....I hope that doesn't make it too difficult to get there. Oh, to think I have another chance at the Bobert Blues band....If I start eating gravel now, perhaps I won't get fired this time! KT |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Sep 09 - 03:19 AM The connection to the Metro at National is pretty good, KT (as long as you don't get in ridiculously late and miss the last train). It's a bit of a walk, but not bad if your luggage has wheels. The Metro will take you very close to the Folk Ghetto. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Micca Date: 04 Sep 09 - 04:25 AM KT, ya dont need to eat Gravel, Just Grits (they are very nearly the same thing)!!! you have made my day by saying you are going to be there!! |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Genie Date: 04 Sep 09 - 09:26 AM Hey, KT, To further whet your appetite for being 'rehired' for the Blues Band, just go to YouTube and do a search for "FSGW Getaway" and "Bobert's Blues Band." You'll see a bit of what you missed last year. (The pay wasn't much, but the music was hot!) Genie |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Tinker Date: 04 Sep 09 - 09:30 AM Okay if KT can find a way to make it come together... Keeping my fingers crossed that some unnamed bureaucratic government contractor actually cuts a check in time for Getaway..... |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Fortunato Date: 04 Sep 09 - 10:29 AM KT! Yellow Line to Gallery Place change trains to Red Line to Silver Spring. See PM. Can anyone help KT with ride from the Metro to Chez Fortunato or her hotel, etc? |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Bobert Date: 04 Sep 09 - 01:00 PM Hmmmmmmmmm???? Yeah, seems that we do have an immediate opening in BobertsBluesBand, KT, that don't involve grits 'er gravel but does require, ahhhhhhh, a certain kinda dress and a peacock feather... Feather, BTW, to be provided... Dress??? Can't help ya' much but if you check out last years video I'm sure that, with yer imagination, you won't have any trouble fittin' in right nicely (the group, that is...) As fir trainin'??? Not to worry... The ladies can get ya' up to speed in no time... B;~ |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Bill D Date: 04 Sep 09 - 02:06 PM "some" vehicles seem to end up being 37% beer cans by the end of the weekend, anyway... *grin* We shall plan that way again. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: KT Date: 04 Sep 09 - 10:54 PM YAHOO!!!! I have a ticket!!!! BIG change in plans!!! I'm now flying into and out of Baltimore!!!!!! Hoping to get to Chance & Suzette's on the 1st - still figuring out lodging for that night and a ride to and from Getaway in time to get a flight out of Baltimore at noon on the 5th. Details..... Haven't been successful in talking Ebbie into it, but....there's still time..... Yes, Tinker!!!! Make it so!!!! Gravel & grits....mmmmmmmm....... YAHOO!!!! Micca, when & where are you coming in? |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Janie Date: 04 Sep 09 - 11:22 PM KT - Huzzah! Here's a suggest - ask if anyone in the greater DC area could put you up for the night. It seems there is no such thing as a reasonably priced hotel or motel these days, especially in metro areas, at least nothing that is both clean and safe, with no meth labs or drug deals going down three doors away. |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Janie Date: 13 Sep 09 - 11:46 PM About this time 3 weeks from now, song circles and good conversation will be building heads of steam in every nook and cranny of West River, as everyone catches their "second wind" after a day of workshop song circles and the Sunday night concert. Who knows, maybe I'll actually go to bed before 4:00 am this year? |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Amos Date: 13 Sep 09 - 11:52 PM Dang, Janie, not if yer dancin' wid me and LEJ! A |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: David Ingerson Date: 18 Sep 09 - 05:56 PM I'm hoping for a lift from the Baltimore Washington Airport on Friday any time after 10:00 AM. I'd be glad to wait for a more convenient time or to take public transport to a more convenient spot if either would help me get a lift. Thanks much! Cheers, David |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Janie Date: 21 Sep 09 - 10:35 PM A friendly reminder regarding the silent auction. While I don't know, I am hopeful there will be more space for it this year than in the two previous years at West River. All items are welcomed and are a tax deductible donation (I think. Dean? Charlie?) Music. Books, Teapots, crafts, instruments, double boilers, Frederick's of Hollywood underwear (as long as the tags are still on;^). Bring an item, and bring money or a checkbook to bid. The auction supports the Getaway scholarship fund, and makes it possible for people to attend that might not otherwise be able to. Roger, I sure hope Marge is going to come this year. Aside from me dearly wanting to see her, her hovering around the table to pounce with a last minute bid to be sure she got the items she wanted was right good for "bidniz." |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Amos Date: 21 Sep 09 - 11:03 PM I think I have you covered David--PM me a cell number if you have one. A |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Charlie Baum Date: 21 Sep 09 - 11:13 PM The donations are tax-deductible "to the extent allowed by law." That means the giver of the gift can declare a donation of the fair market value of the item, and the purchaser can claim a donation of whatever was paid in excess of the fair market value of the item. I I have a widget which in good faith I believe to be worth $20, I can claim a deduction of $20. If I bid $32 for it, and win the bid, I can claim $12 of donation, because it was only worth $20, and the rest was money given to a good cause. There should be lots more room, by the way-- we're planning to move the auction into the old Dining Hall, along with the marketplace. (Bring your CDs, DVDs, and other products for sale.) --Charlie Baum |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Bill D Date: 22 Sep 09 - 11:34 AM There will be some head scratchin' and mumbling as we try to figger out where it all fits best in the old dining hall. (The evening concerts will be down towards the fireplace...without all those tables...just chairs & a stage area) I'll plan to be there early, as usual, to help lug tables and anticipate traffic patterns. (It will be fine...we'll form a committee! ☺ |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Ebbie Date: 22 Sep 09 - 10:23 PM Oh, dear. Oh, dear. I knew better than to open this thread. There is a good deal to be said for denial. NEXT year. I have little doubt but that when KT comes glowing back I'll be beside myself. After weeping and swearing and stomping around, I will be shaking out my handbags and opening new savings accounts so that by next October I'll be in fine shape. In the meantime: Have a wonderful time. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2009 - other stuff than programming From: Janie Date: 23 Sep 09 - 12:30 AM I have such an image of you in my head, Ebbie, from that description! Are you sure you can't fold yourself up small enough to fit into KT's carry-on? |
