After speaking to Morty this evening, and with her consent, I am asking for some healing energy from her friends to help in the "fixing" of her broken collar bone, there seems to be some concern that it is not healing "as it should" and remedial surgery may be needed later if it does not get going soon, so anyone with some spare energy or healing "lying around" direct it to Morty and hopefully we can make that unecessary, she (and I) would be very grateful

Healing thoughts from here too , but the sillywhatsit fell off her Campervan at Sidmouth at the beginning of August ! Healing OUGHT to be well under way by now , so a LOT of sympathy as well .

Why Cats Purr

An amusing study in which researchers placed chickens on a vibrating plate for 20 minutes each day found that the chickens grew stronger bones as a result. This finding was replicated in a study of rabbits, in which bone strength increased by 20% after exposure to the 20-50Hz sound frequency. The study also found that the frequency stimulated the healing of broken bones as well as the speed of bone regeneration. This discovery has significant implications, given the large numbers of people who suffer from osteoporosis (bone loss) as they age.

Cats suffer far less often from diseases of the bones than dogs, and given the effect that the purr frequency has on bones, it is likely that purring plays a role in this. Oh, also, if you can get some of THIS, I HIGHLY recommend it. The Chinese use it for healing bones. The name actually translates to something like "middle bone water." There's more about it HERE, ingredients, history, etc. It is almost miraculous stuff, I kid you not.

Thanks guys. Kat,I'll be sure to look up that stuff, happy to take all the help I can get.

To flesh out the story,so to speak, I broke my collar bone 8 weeks ago,a stepped break quite high up. As of yesterday it hasn't shown any real healing at all. In conjunction with the surgeon I have decided to wait another four weeks before going for the surgical option, although it is rather a faint hope. This is because the surgery is quite a big deal involving a bone graft from my hip and a metal plate.Not so very keen on that option if at all possible so if you could all divert a few famous Mudcat happies my way, I would be really grateful.

Tried "Knitbone" or a regular infusion (tisane) of Comfrey?

If not, look it up. It's one of those herbs which has quite a solid (and tested) reputation for doing exactly what it say's on the tin.

Additionally, a regular practice of "self-healing" is supposed to be pretty effective too, for spurring the body to get on with the job at hand. From advice I've read from a holistic pro, it needs to be practiced for something like *20 Minutes, Twice Daily*.

Basic process:

- Sit in quiet room. Breath deeply, till relaxed.
- Visualise white or golden light flowing down from above (ie: your preferred spiritual source), through the body, to affected area.
- See affected area filled with sparkling white gold.
- Visualise the light healing and unifying the break perfectly.

(I've found with similar exercises, it's useful to use the in-breath to 'draw down' and the out-breath to 'focus' that energy where it needs to be directed.)

There's another take on the self-visualisation, too, if you can't manage twenty minutes. Try five minutes every hour for three days. If you fall asleep no problem, that will help your body to heal. You don't have to be rigid about it, but this has worked for me...bringing the healing Light into that area. In qi gong and in what I practice, I would say breath in healing energy and exhale out all that you don't need or want any more, i.e. pain, stress, bone cracks, etc. Above all be kind to yourself and no chomping at the bit, okay?:-)

I have it! While you're practicing that self-visualization, you need a purring cat in your lap. Since cats tend to purr any time they're in a lap, the main task here is to locate said-cat if you don't have one already. I bet someone would be willing to loan you a therapy cat.

Good luck--it's good there is a the surgical option if needed, but clearly it isn't the most desirable option if you can heal on your own. When I had a broken leg as a child my mother fed me lots of figs and Fig Newtons. They're apparently very high in calcium. Watch your diet, look for that tea, and approach the bone mending from as many angles as possible.

Pixie keeps offering her ( my) cat back but if you'd ever met Loki you would know she isn't too good around injuries, being rather better at causing than healing.

I am using both the chinese tincture and the comfrey; wish I could report instant results but perhaps that's a bit unrealistic? My biggest problem, as Katlaughing knows, is that I haven't had a night's sleep since it happened back in early August...as soon as I move the shoulder protests and wakes me. This makes me tired and cranky (cranky, moi?? and probably not in the best mindset for good healing.

Ho hum, it will all be over sooner or later.

Have they fitted you for a clavicle support brace/splint, Mortee? That is the only way my dau. got any sleep and relief from pain when she broke her collarbone after being hit by a car whilst riding her bike. That and extra pillows propped under her shoulder and to keep th weight off the bones.

Treatment with the tincture, etc. may just take a little time.:-)
