I am so pissed off, along with a LOT of other Canucks... down here anyway. Ya can't find out what is on TV when. It's piss poor. I suppose the networks want you tune in to see what is on and stay tuned in hope that you can see what you want to watch.

Guess I'll search the net to see if there is any "sched".

Some of the gals played in Jasper, Alberta, recently. Their passing is incredible. I wish the Oilers did it half as well.

Dan, do you know the final score against Sweden? I saw only the first two periods.

I'm so sure Canada will be there for the Gold. Don't get me wrong. I sure am hoping but their are just so many great other teams. Russia has an unbelievable group of players as well as a few other teams. Russia are trying to jell as a unit just like Canada. I'm not betting on anyone at this point.

One of the "Oaths" they take at the Olympics, says they will try their best at all times, be fair and honest(or something like that)!
Run up the score "MY ASS"!
You start taking things "easy" in a hockey game, and one of two things happens; You get hurt, or somebody else does! Making a move on a team mate in practise is one thing. Trying it against an opponent, do what is unatural in the game, take it easy "one time" and there you are, watching from the stands, with your knee in a cast! I know a little about this one!
You may win in other sports, but in "Hockey" you beat them!!!

Beeb eventually got round to showing it after 15 minutes. Great game. Has anybody got stats on how effective pulling your goalie is? It always strikes me as a bit of a desperation throw, and you concede more than you gain.

I'm not answering for gnu, he can do that on his own! So this is my perspective!
We just lost one game, and now have to take the long road! Been there, done that! Germany will make a game of it, but it's the Russians that give me more of scare.
During an official day of mourning, we switch to Crown Royal and chase it with imported beer! Usually the kind we gargle with!

Fact is, those Lotus Land Dope Smoking Yuppies on the Left Coast wouldn't get away with that Down Home (Atlantic Canada, the RIGHT Coast). Of course, Down Homegrown ain't as good as that Senseless-a-Million they grow out there. Well, that's what THEY say... I quit the shit a long time ago so I dunno.

Oh... yeah... Down Home... I dare say there would be hell to pay if they took away the beer here.

Dave... yw. Fact is, it is EXACTLY what you said... the last resort.

Now, sometimes, you have luck and sometimes you have players that you are betting on. Case in point, Jean Belliveau, numero cat pour Les Canadiennes. I wrote that correctly... cat... as in, dat guy put dat puck in dat net from da faceoff quick as a cat la!

Seriously. More than once. And, having an extra forward when Jean took the faceoff meant a chance for a rebound.

Now, if you have a faceoff guy that is good at getting the puck back to the blueline and you have a sharp shooter or two back there, the extra forward can try to screen or even take the puck in the pads for a rebound if...

Sorry... I get carried away sometimes.

Then, in the waiting room at the doc's office, three old guys (older) were discussing every play.

So... was it really as rough as has been reported? I heard a Russian was quoted as saying sommat like the Canucks came out like a herd of gorillas.

Alice, on behalf of Canucks, thank you.

I was mentioning to a friend that the Edmonton Oilers would do well to watch the games the gals played and learn to pass like them.

The women's team did make me nervous when the cut in front of their own net so often. However, they had dynamite SA (situational awareness) so none of the teams were able to capitalize on it. They gotta be one happy group of players, and I hope they feel proud of all the work they put into building that team.

Gnu,

They played it tough.

Must have been inspired by the hit Ovechkin put on Jagr.

The Canadians worked hard and hit hard. The russians basically gave up trying near the end of the first period.

If the Canucks keep up the same level of effort, dey will be tough to beat.

Just watched "JR"(Roenick)being interviewed on CTV. When I was younger, I can remember wanting nothing more than to punch his lights out when he played. Now I think he is such a class act and is good for the game of hockey.
Of course I want Canada to win! BUT, I'm going to say 1st goal will probably win!
5 hours, can't wait!

Kinda cool that Sid The Kid got it after no points in three games. Luck of the draw, yes, but still kinda cool. And what about them old lads!!! Amazing play by the experienced, mentoring vets.

Freaked me out... Mum called me and asked me what I thought of the game. Hehehehehee. 83 and almost too blind to watch the game... and she doesn`t LIKE hockey.

And, to our Yankee brothers... fuck me... my blood pressure went way beyond where the doc would be happy and for gooood reason. That silver medal is as good as gold from what I saw tonight. Tremendous show from both teams.

Hard to call anyone a loser is some games and this was one. Its the saddest and greatest part of competition. A great game and one to remember. Congrats to all my Canuckistan friends......It had to be a successful Olympics when you win Gold in your two best sports on home turf.

Forgive us the 4-Man Bob but 1948 was a long time ago and NASCAR technology finally paid off (along with a pretty fine team).

Could someone please teach those boys to say "Thank you" when someone gives them a medal? I know that they were tired and sad, but that's just plain good manners.

I can't find my cookie but it sure was a great game! Were there any losers? No, the Yanks played great and should be proud! On paper the Canadians were much stronger, and if they had lost it would have been an upset! Dual citizenship also comes strongly into play as the man who tied the game for USA and the man who set up Crosby's goal could have played for either country! No loser on either side of the 49!
All that being said I am proud to be from the same province as Sidney Crosby!

So many of the medals were decided among evenly matched opponents who pushed themselves a little harder to excel. It was strictly a matter of who edged out the other at the end. As it should be.

I don't understand Hockey. I can't figure out the rule if there are any. What is icing anyway? I see a lot of little kids tooled up for little league with knives on their feet and clubs in their hands and their mothers telling me it isn't a violent sport. Certainly a sport of contradictions.

This was the third game I have ever seen. But I gotta say that was one hell of a lot fun. Certainly a game to be remembered as one for the ages. I got nothing done in the shop while I watched a game I don't know.

An amazing game, credit to both teams, and extra credit to the Canadians who soldiered through!

The balance of power shifted several times in this game and I gave up watching when it was 2:0 with Canada leading. But I was drawn back when the news flashed that the game was going into sudden death over-time.

Being laid-up for virtually all of the olympics, I was able to watch several "great" match-ups - a wonderful two-week period of games.
Both my wife and I were torn between US and Canada because Mike Babcock, Steve Yzerman and Wings GM Holland were running the Canadian team, while Brian Rafalski was driving great guns with team USA. In the end, we just didn't want anyone to lose, but we both felt that the best ending came about; besides, I really did not think it would be fair to Roberto Luongo to have to face the rest of the season after losing the gold medal on home ice - he's a good guy, even if he isn't a Red Wing. Great game; great rivalry, my only regret is that there were not enough smiles on the US team when they received their medals - they played hard and they played well, stand tall guys. The only thing left to say is: GO RED WINGS, GO!..............Harrison

Just super! I was rooting for the USA just because I'm a citizen, and was ridiculously happy at the tying goal with less than a minute to go.

Still, Canada's win was the truly appropriate storybook ending, especially because it was Sid the Kid who made the shot. And if the US had scored a wininng OT goal past Luongo, he would have had to endure way too much criticism, and his coach would have been second-guessed to kingdom come for not reinstating Brodeur in goal for the final game.

Americans will forget about the loss and be glad to have taken the silver. The same could not be said of the citizenry of Canada had the US won the gold.

I think it was wonderful, too, that Canada won the most golds (after a very slow start) while the US took the overall medal count with an all-time record total.

"I don't understand Hockey. I can't figure out the rule if there are any. What is icing anyway?"

In a nut shell, it's when you shoot the puck from your own side of the red-line and it goes all the way down the ice and across the opponents goal line(not in the goal-that's a goal).

I decided to look at my "Referees Case Book/Rule Combination" from Hockey Canada; Rule 10.5-a,b,c,d,e,f, with 17 different situational references. It's no freakin wonder people who don't play hockey find it so hard to understand the rules of the game!
