Where I grew up, PoppaGator, we knew the correct name was "crawdad."

Damn right Bill! That's the thing about Ohio...We're festival crazy and while the buzzards returning to Hinckley is a sort of neat phenomena, we'll have a festival to celebrate damn near anything. We have a CLAY festival for gawdsake and we used to have an underwear festival until it became overrun with cycle gangs and the underwear plant closed.

I worked for a woman whose main hobby was going to total eclipses of the Sun, but when I read her an article about the buzzards, she hopped in her truck and went! "short lived occasional phenomena" I guess is a hobby.

But the annual vulture migration, now in process, has met with many complaints here in the area of Itchytaw Kansas, and local authorities have been using "noisemakers" to try to move them out.

So far as I can see, the only complaint has something to do with "they're really ugly," which I'm afraid I must take rather personally; but I'm hoping (probably without justification) that crusades agains "anything we think is ugly" may not gather momentum before the vultures move on.

Hey, I know this seems like a silly topic for a thread. Still, charging people just to bring them on the plane is a dumb way to run an airline. In the overhead compartment mine used to melt quite often, and that's where they would have to be put. But charging for the so-called privilege of having them with you when you fly is way beyond the pale.

And speaking of "way beyond the pale"---that silly flesh colored carry-on never was any flesh color I've ever seen anywhere. Come to think of it, I haven't seen the flesh-colored crayon anywhere at all lately. I think someone stole it---and I had fifty of my CDs inside it. Who should I complain to?? I guess I'll go see who is in charge of lost crayon luggage!
