From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 01 Sep 10 - 07:11 PM Sadly I have found that the cost of postage - and Air is nearly twice that of Surface which has to be posted by the end of October to get overseas in time - now exceeds the coast of a small box of goodies - and it can add up to a considerable portion of a weeks fixed income. I will will miss the delights of getting surprised by real Maple Syrup, etc, etc, etc, but I'll be in for the 'Just a Card' one if it's on. |

Personally I'd want to just play one card .. :-p But if some wanted to send more than one, then perhaps they could just also submit a number that they want to send to, so as to get the number of names and address they want? A person would not necessarily GET just one card then, I suppose ... I don't want to start a Mudcat "I sent more cards than you did" game ... :-) (Can't afford it sorry!) |

From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 01 Sep 10 - 07:50 PM Personly I'd prefer it to be a 'surprise, (thus I suppose 'secret') rather than 'Public' - If others want to do it 'public' I have no objection to that - but I would prefer NOT to have my details published on the net!!!! - so I would want the 'secret' I suppose - the address sent by email will then be 'private' and cause fewer hassles these days. There are people out there who fall into the 'not nice' category sadly.... Also if someone wants to send a particular person a card, rather than just 'a few random names' then perhaps they could ask fo that one if they have joined up? I don't want to start a Mudcat "I sent more cards than you did" game ... :-) |

I was one of the people who never received a gift last year - lots of 'it will be with you in...' from Liz but nothing from the actual 'santa'. I am happy to give a present: it's nice to get one back, or to get a message from 'santa' if life/circumstances have made sending a gift impossible. I wonder if non-sending santas should be omitted from the list this year? I hope they are. |

Liz the Squeak coordinates the chaos by starting the thread & collecting the names & addresses of those who want to participate. She also selects our Santees & tells us who they are. Participants also post a list of likes/dislikes/wants/needs etc so we have an idea of what to get for our Santee. We spend something like 20 dollars or pounds in our currency, or make something. We log out & post clues etc under a santa name.
