Subject: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: michaelr Date: 25 May 11 - 08:01 PM Barrie asked me to start a new thread on this project as the previous one is getting a bit long. To recap, we are creating a 5-CD set titled "This Is Us" plus an additional CD of seasonal music called "Until the Dark Time Ends". All the music (about 120+ songs and tunes in all) was recorded and donated by Catters. The project is proceeding well, although I must urge the coordinating mudelves to push for completion of their information-gathering. We don't want to miss the deadline for the Getaway! My next post to this thread will contain a link to a poster I've created which will give you a first look at the CD covers. Cheers, Michael |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Janie Date: 25 May 11 - 08:27 PM I think I need to hear from the mudelf dealing with liner notes regarding the song I submitted. I think I need to make a couple of corrections. And let me just reiterate kudos to Barrie and all the mudelves who are bringing this to fruition. Great Title! |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Amos Date: 25 May 11 - 09:03 PM Three cheers for Barrie for his heroic endeavours! (Hope I spelled that appropriately!) Start saving up now so we can Flood Dick with orders when the release occurs and swell the coffers of the Cat!! A |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: dick greenhaus Date: 25 May 11 - 10:38 PM Barrie- I know that one of the CDs is titled Sky. What are the others? |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: michaelr Date: 26 May 11 - 01:02 AM Janie - PM bradfordian with the name of your song and whatever info you need to convey. Dick - the CDs in the 'This Is Us' series are titled Earth, Sky, Stone, Water, and Wood. The "seaonal" CD is titled 'Until the Dark Time Ends', but my files will call it Snow for short. |

Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: bradfordian Date: 26 May 11 - 02:14 AM Hey Guys & Gals, That is so KUEL!!! I'm ready to rock and roll----------just waiting for the pdfs. I'm hoping the mudelves can complete the pdfs by end June (HINT!!) so I can burn the masters and get them to Dick for replicating. And Michael needs the verified song/performer details so he can complete the artwork. If I can quote from a couple of the team members, "WOW, this IS exciting" And don't forget, start saving up now! bradfordian |

Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Barbara Shaw Date: 26 May 11 - 09:12 AM The graphics look wonderful! So happy that bradfordian took on this project and is managing it so well, and so honored to be a part of it. I just have one niggling question that may not be relevant: Is "This Is Us" grammatically correct? Does it matter? |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Bill D Date: 26 May 11 - 10:45 AM It maybe should oughta be "This AM us"...or maybe "These do be us"....but whadda I know? |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: maeve Date: 26 May 11 - 10:54 AM We'uns |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: GUEST,999 Date: 26 May 11 - 11:11 AM This is us seems fine to me, fwiw. If it was good enough for Walt Kelly (of 'we have met the enemy and he is us' renown) we're in good company. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: katlaughing Date: 26 May 11 - 11:15 AM Wow!! Those covers are outstanding! Love all of it and am so excited to have a set in my hands! Thanks, all! |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Cool Beans Date: 26 May 11 - 11:16 AM The important thing is, does it convey the intended message? "This Is Us" does the job. Sometimes the grammatically correct sounds worse. "This Is We?" "We Are This?" Ecch. I like "This Is Who We Are" but "This Is Us" is just fine with me. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Cool Beans Date: 26 May 11 - 11:19 AM The covers look great. Bravo! |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: MartinRyan Date: 26 May 11 - 11:20 AM "Here we are!" seems to be the sense... Here we are among ye would have a fine North of Ireland ring to it! Regards |

Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: bobad Date: 26 May 11 - 01:43 PM I like THIS IS US for a title. THISISUS would have been cool too. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: ClaireBear Date: 26 May 11 - 02:09 PM Beautiful covers, Michael. You do great work, as I have reason to know! Anyone who doesn't like "THIS IS US" can take a felt pen and change the "U" to a "B" and then put a red circle/bar sinister over that word, thereby changing the name to "THIS IS NOT BS." That may make grammarians happy... surely "IT IS WE" would make nobody happy! |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: katlaughing Date: 26 May 11 - 02:15 PM With permission from bradfordian and Michael, I would suggest it is not too early to print out and send, or email a copy, of the poster to one's local npr/indie radio stations with a short blurb about oneself and one's contribution to give it a local touch. The more press the better and it doesn't cost a cent, save for a stamp, to do so. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Joe Offer Date: 26 May 11 - 02:18 PM Suibhne, you can have a free copy of your recording...but you have to pay for the others. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Amos Date: 26 May 11 - 03:09 PM This We Are? These are Some of Us? Nahhhhh..... |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: wysiwyg Date: 26 May 11 - 03:37 PM Or "We's Us." Made ya look! :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Artful Codger Date: 26 May 11 - 05:07 PM Ahem, per modern usage, "this is us" or "it's me" is correct--a special grammar construction--, and in fact it's preferred over "this is we" (or "It is I"), which strikes everyone but reactionary pedants as unnatural. Alternatively: "← Us" |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: bradfordian Date: 26 May 11 - 05:50 PM Anagram for yers. Rearrange the following letters into the title of a 5 hour long explosion of fantastic world (yes! USA to GB, Iceland to Oz!) music. HIT US SIS, or try IT IS HUSS |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Genie Date: 26 May 11 - 06:31 PM Martin, I saw your suggestion of "Here We Are!" just as I was about to post it myself. I like it. (I agree that "This is we," while gramatically correct, sounds stiff. (As an aside, while I accept "It's me," "It's us," etc., I still can't stand things like "Just between you and I" or "Me and you should sing together.") Genie |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: BobKnight Date: 26 May 11 - 07:04 PM Genie - behave yourself, or I'll send you some more lyrics in Scots to decipher. :) |

Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Tootler Date: 26 May 11 - 08:19 PM Sorry! Pressed "submit" instead of "home" But, while I am on, have downloaded the poster and will print a few off for taking round. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: michaelr Date: 26 May 11 - 10:45 PM Here's an improved version of the poster. I appreciate the kudos, but don't forget who's been doing all the work on the actual music (and attendant documentation) - Bradfordian, Genie and SussexCarole! Cheers, Michael |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: katlaughing Date: 26 May 11 - 11:25 PM Excellent. I like the change you made in the main title and the additional info about the Mudcat. Umpteen cheers to you all!! |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 27 May 11 - 07:24 AM I can't open it - when I click on save to my account, it sends me to a page which says "Internal Page, please close window". eh? Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 May 11 - 01:27 PM How much will the whole set of CDs cost. Include post office shipping charge to eastern Canada, and don`t worry about sending them in jewel cases. (Waste of money, imo.) |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: GUEST,Songbob Date: 27 May 11 - 01:41 PM So why haven't I noticed this before? Do you need input (i.e., recordings) from 'Catters interested in being represented? How do we get you the recordings, etc.? Quality control? Please direct me to the thread that answers these questions. Bob Clayton |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 May 11 - 01:54 PM It may be a bit late for that, Bob. The top of this page shows three threads about the project going back months. Get in touch with bradfordian via message. |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Genie Date: 27 May 11 - 03:25 PM Songbob, you just raised a really good question - or idea. Would it be possible to make the CDs available as paid downloads via iTunes, at a cost slightly lower than the physical CDs? At least that might save the shipping costs? The CD covers and the PDF files could be included as digital booklets. Genie |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: Charley Noble Date: 27 May 11 - 03:38 PM Excellent art work! Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: New Mudcat CD set 'THIS IS US' From: bradfordian Date: 27 May 11 - 04:57 PM I'm looking at making the s&h costs inclusive in the CD price -- which I believe is the case with the Blue Plate Specials(BPS). I shall get prices up soon. YOU GOT SIX MONTHS TO SAVE UP. BORROW THE KIDS PIGGY BANKS --YOU KNOW THEY'VE OUTGROWN THEM NOW-- AND START BUNKERING!!!! There will be a discount for buying the set at one go. With regard to Genie's comment, one of the reasons I progressed this project now, was that (bearing in mind the 9 year gap between this set and the BPS) I thought this is probably going to be the last opportunity to do CDs before they go out of fashion. To me there is a certain je ne sais quoi about having tangible media. bradfordian |
