Barrie asked me to start a new thread on this project as the previous one is getting a bit long. To recap, we are creating a 5-CD set titled "This Is Us" plus an additional CD of seasonal music called "Until the Dark Time Ends". All the music (about 120+ songs and tunes in all) was recorded and donated by Catters.

The project is proceeding well, although I must urge the coordinating mudelves to push for completion of their information-gathering. We don't want to miss the deadline for the Getaway!

My next post to this thread will contain a link to a poster I've created which will give you a first look at the CD covers.

I think I need to hear from the mudelf dealing with liner notes regarding the song I submitted. I think I need to make a couple of corrections.

And let me just reiterate kudos to Barrie and all the mudelves who are bringing this to fruition.

Dick - the CDs in the 'This Is Us' series are titled Earth, Sky, Stone, Water, and Wood. The "seaonal" CD is titled 'Until the Dark Time Ends', but my files will call it Snow for short.

I'm hoping the mudelves can complete the pdfs by end June (HINT!!) so I can burn the masters and get them to Dick for replicating. And Michael needs the verified song/performer details so he can complete the artwork.

The graphics look wonderful! So happy that bradfordian took on this project and is managing it so well, and so honored to be a part of it. I just have one niggling question that may not be relevant: Is "This Is Us" grammatically correct? Does it matter?

The important thing is, does it convey the intended message? "This Is Us" does the job. Sometimes the grammatically correct sounds worse. "This Is We?" "We Are This?" Ecch. I like "This Is Who We Are" but "This Is Us" is just fine with me.

Beautiful covers, Michael. You do great work, as I have reason to know!

Anyone who doesn't like "THIS IS US" can take a felt pen and change the "U" to a "B" and then put a red circle/bar sinister over that word, thereby changing the name to "THIS IS NOT BS." That may make grammarians happy... surely "IT IS WE" would make nobody happy!

With permission from bradfordian and Michael, I would suggest it is not too early to print out and send, or email a copy, of the poster to one's local npr/indie radio stations with a short blurb about oneself and one's contribution to give it a local touch. The more press the better and it doesn't cost a cent, save for a stamp, to do so.

Ahem, per modern usage, "this is us" or "it's me" is correct--a special grammar construction--, and in fact it's preferred over "this is we" (or "It is I"), which strikes everyone but reactionary pedants as unnatural.

(I agree that "This is we," while gramatically correct, sounds stiff.

(As an aside, while I accept "It's me," "It's us," etc., I still can't stand things like "Just between you and I" or "Me and you should sing together.")

I can't open it - when I click on save to my account, it sends me to a page which says "Internal Page, please close window". eh?

As this was the only window open, all I could do was arrow back to the previous page, then back to mudcat.

Would it be possible to make the CDs available as paid downloads via iTunes, at a cost slightly lower than the physical CDs?    At least that might save the shipping costs?
The CD covers and the PDF files could be included as digital booklets.

I'm looking at making the s&h costs inclusive in the CD price -- which I believe is the case with the Blue Plate Specials(BPS).

I shall get prices up soon. YOU GOT SIX MONTHS TO SAVE UP. BORROW THE KIDS PIGGY BANKS --YOU KNOW THEY'VE OUTGROWN THEM NOW-- AND START BUNKERING!!!!

There will be a discount for buying the set at one go.

With regard to Genie's comment, one of the reasons I progressed this project now, was that (bearing in mind the 9 year gap between this set and the BPS) I thought this is probably going to be the last opportunity to do CDs before they go out of fashion. To me there is a certain je ne sais quoi about having tangible media.
