The sentence that came in today for the FLDS cult leader Warren Jeffs is Life plus 20 years for the conviction of raping a 12 year old and 14 year old, one of many underage girls he had as "wives".

The members have been forbidden from knowing anything about the trial or charges. They consider him a martyr. The women and children in FLDS were born and raised in this system that controls and exploits them. It will be difficult for them to change their thinking and accept that their "prophet" is convicted of sex crimes.

This is the same group that burned the donated books to the library that was trying to be established after Jeffs banned books (on an older thread).

Former members have created groups to help those who are still behind the locked doors of the different locations of the FLDS in the US and Canada.

There is a film made of the boys who were exiled from the cult, often called the lost boys, as the older men marry large numbers of the women. They are routinely set out on the road with nothing and told not to come back. Many end up in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas as homeless male prostitutes.

correction - I should have typed "two of many wives". Jeffs has 79 wives, 24 of whom were under age 18 when he married them.

Not long enough, how about life for each violation, that would be more fitting ... and one of those prisons where they are underground and only see and hear the hum of the neon lights 24/7 in an 8 x 10 cell

I'm with Dan...but before he goes anywhere, I think there are certain parts of his body that should be removed while he is wide awake.

He is not the first hood to run a religious sect. It is rare to see one come unstuck though, which is what makes this trial outcome seem gratifying. Time now to focus on the victims.
