Bill Monroe would have been 100 on Sept. 9. NPR did a nice tribute tonight on ATC, and I think did a good job summarizing his influences, and also his persuasive influence on all kinds of American music. The piece included snatches of interviews Alice Gerard had done with him in her collecting as well as some brief comments from Alice.

worth a listen.
