Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Jeri Date: 22 Oct 11 - 11:11 PM Blips of down-ness through the day, but it's all up-ness now. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: katlaughing Date: 22 Oct 11 - 11:11 PM It's been down a couple of times for me, today, Max, but that was a while ago. Seemed a might slow in loading just now, but I think that was because I'd just shut down netflix. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Max Date: 22 Oct 11 - 11:17 PM The downblips were me upgrading the database server. I was messing with some pretty sensitive caching settings and was afraid I was seeing a lag, which would essentially turn the forum into a non-linear mess. That's how I live all the time (birth defect) but y'all would have been disoriented. Keep an eye on her. A few new things installed last night and today. Use this thread to report any odd behavior (not my odd behavior, the servers'). Please keep it clean from other topics. Thanks gang. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Janie Date: 23 Oct 11 - 12:38 AM On a Mac and also using firefox. Had no problems early this morning when others were not able to get on. There was a period between 6ish an 7ish this evening when firefox let me know right smartly that there was no joy. Came back about an hour later, and it has been smooth sailing since then. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Amos Date: 23 Oct 11 - 12:49 AM On mac using Firefox. It seems to be working fine now. A |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: gnomad Date: 23 Oct 11 - 01:25 AM Firefox run on a Linux machine is going fine here in UK, as are Opera and Midori on the same machine, should they be of interest. Things were a bit intermittent a few hours ago, but the behaviour of other sites was also dodgy. I suspect that most of the difficulty lay with the web rather than the site. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Bob Landry Date: 23 Oct 11 - 01:32 AM I've been on intermittenly during the day and experienced no problems getting in or out. I use a PC with IE9. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: MGM·Lion Date: 23 Oct 11 - 01:53 AM Mac & Firefox. Down for much of evening the night before last; back yesterday morning, but a few patches of blank intermittenly yesterday. OK thus far this morning [now 0655, have been online for about 70 minutes]. ~Michael~ |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 Oct 11 - 03:35 AM Seems somewhat speedier than recently here in the UK right now (AMD Quad-core, Chrome). I'll try the Mac upstairs once people are up - 0834 am after late night band practice... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: DrugCrazed Date: 23 Oct 11 - 04:26 AM I'm on my blackberry, had a 504 last night (23:30ish my time?) but I decided to just go to bed and forget about it. Max, I may ask your permission to write something which is fast for mobile browsers but as I currently have no time whatsoever, probably not soon. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Will Fly Date: 23 Oct 11 - 06:35 AM Firefox on a Mac Book Pro. Some slowness and the odd blip of nothingness over the last few days. OK now - but still seems a little slower than usual to me... |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Pete Jennings Date: 23 Oct 11 - 10:29 AM Ha! I just wrote: "15:25 UK time, laptop with Windoes. Seems ok to me." First it didn't accept my post, then whilst typing this the screen froze momentarily a couple of times. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: katlaughing Date: 23 Oct 11 - 10:31 AM Firefox with XP, seems better, faster this morning, so far. Thanks, Max! |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Pete Jennings Date: 23 Oct 11 - 10:41 AM It just ignored another post (saying it really does seem ok now). |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Pete Jennings Date: 23 Oct 11 - 10:41 AM But it accepted that one really quickly. Very odd. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Oct 11 - 11:46 AM So far today it seems to be okay. For a while last week I was having a problem (at mudcat and everywhere) but finally realized I needed to hit the reset button on my router. Today seems much faster and no error messages. SRS |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Amos Date: 23 Oct 11 - 12:48 PM Subit MEssage button is a bit wonky. On another thread it did nothing, apparently. Refreshed window, re-pasted post and submit button did work, but only after a long wait for server. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Oct 11 - 01:21 PM I am logged in on Firefox and the Google ads are all gone - took a minute to realize why the look was so clean. I was going to test going to a few to see how they behaved. I just viewed the site with a browser that doesn't have me signed in (Opera) and the ads are still there - this is a big improvement, to not see ads, unless having members see them gives you more income from Google. SRS |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Oct 11 - 06:52 PM Very slow overall this afternoon... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Genie Date: 23 Oct 11 - 07:36 PM I use Safari with my MacBook (OS X Leopard) and I've had hardly any trouble getting into the Mudcat cafe over the past few days. Once in a while I may not be able to access the site, but that generally lasts for only an hour or so, at longest. Genie |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: BrooklynJay Date: 23 Oct 11 - 08:30 PM I'm signed in (actually, I haven't signed out) and still see ads. But I have an old PC with an older version of IE. Perhaps that's why? Am I not supposed to see ads now? Still don't understand why it (sometimes) takes two or three clicks of the "back" button for it to work. Now and then I just give up and click the homepage link at the top of the page. That always works the first time. I'm not exactly sure what Max is testing, so I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Jay |
Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: GUEST Date: 23 Oct 11 - 08:43 PM You say YES.... The minions-of-satan will probe your ports....six continents, six countries, and seven languages. Where would you like the report deposited? Your permission is required. You understand without your permission in the UK this could be a crime of rape, in Iran it might be unlawful access, in Saudi Arabia sorcery and punishable by death. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Max is Testing (maybe you can help) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Oct 11 - 10:40 PM Garg, you forgot to flash your badge. Seems to run fine for now here in Tejas, USA. I suspect an older version of IE lets a lot of things through. You ought to update. SRS |
