Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 08 Oct 17 - 04:41 PM Janie, thinking of you while you care for others who need you. You have so much goodwill and support and open-heartedness surrounding you on this thread. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 06 Oct 17 - 10:40 PM Thank you again, Maeve, for sharing Nigel's update and letting him know about our messages. I hope he is turning a corner in his recovery. Wendy, I'm delighted to read your good news about Billy! |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: maeve Date: 06 Oct 17 - 03:12 PM Thank you to all who have posted messages for Nigel; he says he appreciates it. Here's an update: *"Yesterday was something of a crisis, pain-wise. Having finally achieved some control & (miraculously) sleeping the night through, today, Thursday, I feel much easier & comfortable, relatively speaking."* Nigel really enjoyed the link from gnu- says the presentation reminded him a bit of Bob Newhart's humour. I suspect the music links will be enjoyed as he recovers- rather a long journey. Continued encouragement would be appreciated. Maeve (Hugs to those who need 'em. Raising a mug of tea in honour of those needing healing, encouragement, respite, to those who are celebrating the little and large successes of life, and those for whom life seems very hard right now. I salute you!) |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 06 Oct 17 - 05:29 AM Morning from "the sunshine coast" UK. And it is indeed very sunny, and Billy's blood counts were all spot on, still on the trial and next appointment 4 months, whoo hoo! More healing thoughts to Nigel and all our crew. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 04 Oct 17 - 10:28 PM Dratted auto-correct! My previous post was for Donuel, not Donnelly! Wendy, please let us know about Billy's check-up. And like everyone else here, my thoughts are with Nigel, too. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 04 Oct 17 - 06:26 AM I must say I am so sorry that I have been AWOL for weeks, no excuses I had the most miserable summer all over a misunderstanding with someone I love very dearly and have never fallen out with before ( not Billy I must tell you, he had a miserable time worrying about me) All is well now as I invited the person to lunch and we both poured our hearts, and tears, out, both of us felt as bad as each other over nothing!! enough about me, I want to send all our love to Nigel ,who as Capt. of our ship, has been there for all of us for all these months . Now it is our turn to give all our support to you Nigel, I hope you are recovering well and resting and relaxing as you should. We still haven't met up at the beach hut but one sunny day I hope we can do so soon, who knows maybe October will bring a late Indian summer? Meanwhile lots of healing thoughts from me to you and Ann.Janie hugs to you too. Billy has just gone off to see his Consultant for his 4 months checkup, fingers crossed! Putting on the coffee pot, love to all Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 01 Oct 17 - 06:20 PM Hmmm love will find a way. Dean still is avoiding school but this week an internet friend from Tennessee came visiting. She is just as socially inept or shy as Dean so they celebrate a common life trait without any awkwardness. Well some awkwardness but its better than depression. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 30 Sep 17 - 09:35 PM Janie, hugs! More hugs. And hugs again. Lots of hugs. I wish I could give you my hugs in person. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 29 Sep 17 - 05:14 PM One of my old friends died this morning. She was moved to hospice the weekend I was at the Getaway. Good thoughts, please, for her family and all who loved her. My newer friend who I have been taking to treatments, is not responding well. My heart is heavy. I need some hugs. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 29 Sep 17 - 05:11 PM I've been away and wrapped in my own concerns. Glad the surgery went well, Nigel. May the recovery be swift. Not sure how appropriate this is for your specific situation now, but certainly kinda how I think we compatriots on this ship of hope and caring may feel about each other, even if we have never met in person. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 27 Sep 17 - 09:28 PM In a recent clean up (part of the slooooowly ongoing downsizing) I discovered/uncovered the label of the CD which died in the 70s & found it on youtube & have been listening to it ever since! On it's previous appearance some years back it was not on youtube, good thing I kept it. Providence - "Ever sense the dawn" - Full album |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: maeve Date: 27 Sep 17 - 08:44 AM Logging in briefly to joyfully report, as of an hour ago Nigel tells me "I'm back home…recovery time anything up to a month…pain control is the main issue at present." If anyone would like to send encouraging notes, reasons for joy and laughter, and links to beautiful music, kindly post them here (or via PM to me) and I'll forward them directly to Nigel as well, since it may well be a wee while before he feels like accessing MC himself. Thank you. Maeve |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 25 Sep 17 - 05:12 PM I've been away from MC for a few days. I just read about Nigel's rescheduled surgery. It must be done by now! I hope all went well and look forward to reading that it did. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 19 Sep 17 - 01:09 PM Sympathy for Nigel: he cancels his holiday in Greece and then the hospital cancels the surgery that he was to have had instead of the holiday. Expletive deleted. Or should that be, Murphy's Law? Hang in there, sir. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 17 Sep 17 - 05:15 PM Update on Dean; He attends a special school and a children's hospital out patient program. To my surprise they seem to be ignorant in the treatment of the biggest mental health crises for children born after 1999. read https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/darwins-subterranean-world/201707/the-mental-health-crisis-is-upon-the-internet-generation or listen https://ww2.kqed.org/forum/2017/09/12/psychologist-jean-twenge-on-how-the-smartphone-has-shaped-a-generation/ I believe the prescription treatment he receives is 180 degrees the wrong way. This is something that must be addressed. At least Dean is in an enormous group that will be seeking similar strategies in life. Old school advice of "you'll put your eye out" or "you will go blind" or "It'll rot your brain" is no better than new school advice. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 13 Sep 17 - 03:26 PM An acquaintance who lives outside of Sarasota checked in, post-Irma. Their property really suffered very little considering what they expected. They were able to restore power, so they are not deprived that way. Many old oak trees are on the property, around both house and barn; the trees, amazingly, still stand. Obviously a lot of branches are no longer on the trees, but the trees still stand. Minor repairs are needed to the house and the property fencing. The pet cats are well. She says the bats are all right as well. Not sure, am I, regarding the bats: I suspect they are not pets, but that her property has ecologically approved bat-dwellings constructed, and that some bats have made themselves at home there. And her colony of bees also survived. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 11 Sep 17 - 03:36 PM Janie, I'm glad your family members are okay. I hope you soon learn that your friends are, too. I also hope their properties are undamaged. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 11 Sep 17 - 12:46 PM Glad to report that all my Florida family have checked in as safe. Some can't get back to their homes yet to assess for damage - but all are safe, which is the main thing. Still waiting to hear from friends on Little Torch Key who did not evacuate. I know Little Torch and Big Pine were hit very hard, both with wind and with storm surge. Very little info coming out thus far, but search and rescue missions are beginning to deploy. Hopefully more info will be coming soon. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 08 Sep 17 - 11:27 PM Most of my family lives on the east and west coasts of Florida. Satellite Beach and Melbourne on the east coast and Sarasota on the West Coast. Because of the tremendous gridlock on roads and at airports since Wednesday, evacuating the state has not been a reasonable option, combined with the inability to really predict just where this huge, monster storm will go. Family has not been able to ascertain which coast to shelter on, or even if sheltering much further inland is the best plan. I'm nervous and fearful for them as can be. They have all been in Florida for many, many years and this is not their first rodeo, but they are all clearly scared about this one. Please hold all Floridians in your thoughts, meditations, and prayers. I'm always concerned for them when hurricanes hit Florida, but right now I am really anxious and scared for them. Maybe more than is warranted. I'm not usually a hand=wringer, but can't help myself at this particular time. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 08 Sep 17 - 01:32 PM No response other than to say goodnight back atcha, gnu, and hurry back soon; some of us will genuinely miss you. Please be back in time for your next birthday, anyhow. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 07 Sep 17 - 11:07 PM Red Green, it is you. Do ya think the immune response is not just autonomic but has an emotional trigger as well? If so, dread, fear, desperation and giving up may be powerful healing positives. I have anecdotal evidence this may be so. This flies in the face of current "positive attitude advocates". |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 07 Sep 17 - 08:38 PM Donuel, I'm glad you're feeling better. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 07 Sep 17 - 04:56 PM Thanks for the PMs. I must clarify my last post. Those of you who know me know that when I post "gnightgnu" it means I am gone. Well, ahhh, yeah. That's it for now. I may be back in future. Please, no more PMs. I'll see ya when I see ya. That's all. At ease. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Keep yer stick on the ice. Stop the puck first and worry about the pain later. And keep yer head up when yer comin' across the Blue Line. That Blue Line will fuck you up late in the game. So, keep your laces tight. Ha! Don't know why I add this but some will understand. Tight lines and straight shootin'! Again, don't respond and don't PM me. gnightgnu |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 07 Sep 17 - 05:51 AM Yaaay after a four week cold, lost voice fever cough sneeze fest I woke up today after a drenching sweat and I emerged the victor over that little annual virus. I can swallow again without pain. No medicine or suppressants this time. This thorny Rhino virus had a big horn. It was as though I didn't get better until I got a bit scared. Fear is a motivator when taken in moderation. |
