Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: catspaw49 Date: 30 Mar 13 - 12:35 PM I'd bet that the crew here could arrange to all be here during some of those hours on the 8th for a bit of a broadband wake of the Mudcat kind sharing songs and words and the best that a friendship can bring together. How about it fellow crew? Can we all be here between 6 AM and Noon Mudcat time on the 8th? I will be for sure. My first round of chemo ends on Tuesday and will make it something good for a marking point. Let's bring our thoughts and prayers, our songs and stories, and have a 'Catter's Wake for the Paterson family. I'm in. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Nigel Paterson Date: 30 Mar 13 - 12:20 PM My Dear Wendy, Ann & I are so pleased to read your encouraging news. Something to celebrate, something positive & good to hold on to. Spending much of my time preparing some Music for Jane's funeral. We're going to play a shortened version (with the other writer's permission) of 'Meditation on 'The Comfort of Singing Voices', to underscore a moment of quiet reflection in the middle of the service. With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: billybob Date: 30 Mar 13 - 05:57 AM Good morning, woke up to fluffy snow here in Frinton, just like a silent cosy blanket falling from the sky. Billy saw his consultant a few days ago, good news on the leuchemia count, back to normal, red cells and platelets still very low and the bone marrow biopsy needs to be repeated, but the CT scan was good, so sailing on. Still here Nigel and Ann ( hugs) with love Wendy xxxxxxxxx |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Janie Date: 29 Mar 13 - 10:07 PM Goodnight, Nigel & Ann, 'Spaw, Billybob and family, and also to all the rest of this fine crew. Some will sleep well, some fitfully or not at all, some will soon be rising even as I head off to bed. That's the way it is with ship's crew. Still here and so appreciative of being a part of this crew and this chorus. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Nigel Paterson Date: 29 Mar 13 - 06:39 AM Janie, your description of the post-funeral wake evokes vivid images & deep emotions. Ours will be post-funeral too, but sadly, no singing or dancing. Even so, it is the intention that the day will be a celebration of Jane's Life. For the record, clocks in the UK go forward one hour this weekend (30/31 March). I embrace BST with open arms! 'Gather' with us on 11th, if you are able. Ann & I will be thinking of you all, our Dear, Precious Friends, With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Janie Date: 28 Mar 13 - 11:03 PM Remembering the gathering after my sister's funeral, and it was joyous. I think officially wakes are pre-funeral but here in the USA they are often sad and solemn formal occasions at funeral homes. People flocked to the house post-funeral, however, to truly celebrate her life. Old friends from long ago gathered, plus family from near and far and neighbors and newer friends we didn't know. Old friends included many of the people the three of us sisters melded with in our twenties, the period when we truly became heart friends and not just sisters. Kaye had left and come home. Annie and I still lived far away and had not been with this crew for many years. Fiddles, banjos, guitars and basses appeared, there was singing, clogging and dancing in the hallway, cherished and joyful memories shared, pictures and photos passed around. A true reunion of not just blood family but of the communities in which she had been embedded and to which she had contributed so much across time. The ladies on the church committee who set up the food and some neighbors were somewhat agape, but still appreciative and celebratory. There are memories that still bring tears. But Kaye's post-funeral Wake was a truly joyful celebration of her life, and the memory brings me great joy and solace, even this many years after her death. May it be so for you and yours, Nigel. |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: gnu Date: 28 Mar 13 - 10:32 PM Just woke up in my chair, snacked, and on my way to bed. I'll be taking Mum to the doc at that very time but I will take pause, Nigel. What rum said... too asleep to remember exactly how it goes.......... here. |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: ChanteyLass Date: 28 Mar 13 - 10:07 PM I should be awake. My thoughts will be with your family. Have people in the UK set there clocks ahead one hour for summer? If not, when will you do so? We have done it here in the US. I used this site to convert the time. I hope it is accurate. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Janie Date: 28 Mar 13 - 07:35 PM I wont be where I can log on to Mudcat at that time, Nigel, but will definitely be there regardless. Have it marked in my appointment book. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Nigel Paterson Date: 28 Mar 13 - 06:41 PM Some wonderful, hope-filled, humourous posts here. They really do bring a sense of joy back into our lives. Jane's funeral will be held at 1.00pm (UK time), Thursday, 11th April. If you're up & about, maybe pause for a second or two & join our Family over the miles that separate so many of us. You will be most welcome. With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 28 Mar 13 - 07:11 AM Good morning, dear ones, Here in the hills of New Hampshire there is still well over a foot of snow on the ground. Spring is in the air, but the forecast suggests it will be late April before we see any crocuses or daffodils. We are weary of winter, but we have hope that Spring will return. Nigel and Ann, it is early yet in your bereavement. The winter of sadness and anger and depression will run their course. But Jane will always be in your hearts, and you will never stop loving her, and her love for you lives on in your hearts. Your gentle Spring will return, not the same Springs as you may remember, but hope and warmth and light are not gone forever. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: gnu Date: 27 Mar 13 - 11:10 PM As I contemplate why I am not already fast asleep I can't help but mull over why I have checked on this thread almost every day for a year at waking and at going Oggies... first and last thing I did most days and many times during the waking hours. I was uplifted. I was dashed. I was upset. I was comforted. I felt anger. I felt joy. I was unnerved. I was calmed. I felt helpless. I felt empowered... This journey, here and there, has been shared by so many good folk. So many wonderful posts. Meaningful, enlightening, caring posts made by people of the same description. Thanks. gnightfernow |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Donuel Date: 27 Mar 13 - 11:06 PM I know so very little, but this I know; We are born from love for love our whole life long. All the countless thousands of words of feeling aimed at you and yours, prove that you will never be alone without love. Perhaps singing so you can; hear, dance, play along, love will even whisper so you can sleep. |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: frogprince Date: 27 Mar 13 - 10:02 PM In our family, in the old Minnesota farmhouse, it was "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite". My sister had a high school friend stay over one night. When she heard that, she shrieked "Do you have bedbugs??" Sleep tight, the seas are calm. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: gnu Date: 27 Mar 13 - 04:50 PM Maple Slurpup... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I get mine from La Belle Province at $12.49 a litre! Half or less than most retailers here. Of course, I also like to go to a sugar camp and partake of the festivities and buy directly from the camps. Although, right now, I wouldn't eat any off the snow with the temps as warm as they are... good way to end up with a sore throat and maybe a cold. |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: maeve Date: 27 Mar 13 - 04:17 PM Dear Nigel and Ann. Here in Maine we are collecting maple sap and boiling it outside to make syrup for the year- one of our delights. As the sweet, steamy fragrance rises on this chilly spring day I'm hoping you will find sweet pockets of amber beauty in the form of good memories. Still here together. Maeve |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts & prayers please (Nigel Paterson) From: Janie Date: 26 Mar 13 - 09:59 PM It is a chill night here on the northeast Piedmont of North Carolina. After a mild winter, spring is slow to arrive. The sky is clear and the moon is full, shining down behind dark tree branches that appear to starkly etch it's surface. Sending deep care and concern on those moonbeams, Nigel and Ann. |
