Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 03 Jul 17 - 08:08 PM Rhode Island has no new budget. As of July 1, we are continuing to use the old one. RI is almost completely run by Democrats, including the state's speaker of the house who had his own Trump-like temper tantrum. Here's a progressive blogger's opinion. http://www.rifuture.org/ripda-new-speaker/ |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 03 Jul 17 - 10:45 AM do they have the same deep divisions as in Washington? or is there another reason? sandra (with apologies for this brief excursion off topic) |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 02 Jul 17 - 08:54 PM I understand that 11 haven't passed a budget for the budget year starting July 1. The budgets for some simply haven't yet been signed by the Governor. Seems like there was a LOT of overestimation of what the states thought they'd take in.... |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 01 Jul 17 - 11:23 PM We are back from Seattle and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance said that Pat only need take anastrozole (spelling?) for five to seven years. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 01 Jul 17 - 09:28 AM The governor and the legislature couldn't agree on a budget by the end of the fiscal year (midnight last night) and the governor shut down the government. Only "essential" personnel are working until further notice. State police, corrections, warden service, fire marshal's office, psychiatric hospitals, and state parks. We're only essential in parks because it's the middle of summer, a holiday weekend, and public opinion, and we're running the parks with far too few people. I did get deemed essential, along with two other people, but two other members of my crew did not. It's a mess. This news report is pretty accurate: Maine government shutdown |

I hope any reservations about the designated doctor share have no negative effect on medical care. Tommy has been in hospital again, but it wasn't too serious and only 6 days. I must confess to feeling a bit stressed lately with the kids . Got quite a cough and not feeling as well as I could , and I have to remind myself that I have very little to complain about !. No radiation, no chemotherapy! Pat has to take an aromatase inhibitor for five to ten years, but the side effects of that are known and can be dealt with! She's already set up an appointment here for Monday, and SCCA will be "patient-sharing" with a doctor here (who she really, really doesn't care for) on here treatment. The best outcome would have been that nothing at all need by done, but we'll take this! I hope that the outcomes for all are at least as good as ours. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 23 Jun 17 - 12:41 PM Pat's words, taken from a PM. The full PM remains tucked in my wallet & accompanies me everywhere I go: "...Words cannot explain how important this thread has become to me and many others. Your terrible struggle shared by Ann and of course the rocky road your precious Jane traveled became a touchstone for me and I felt a closeness to all of you and our fellow travelers aboard the Rainbow. We have so many here that offer so much of themselves it has buoyed my spirits and my sense of friendship in a way I would never have believed possible in the cyber world. To this my contribution always felt so small and the only tools I have in hand are a sincere empathy for my friends and a strange, warped' and often too quick, sense of humor. Good mains & more homemade, Italian ice-cream for desert than you've ever dreamed of! She's currently unpacking...it's 16:50 our time. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 07 May 17 - 04:38 AM Hi, Thanks ChanteyLass. With New Moon being during the day and me working in a school there's fairly good coverage where that is concerned. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 05 May 17 - 04:16 PM Hi, Yes, I guess they are panic attacks of a kind, as people with Asperger syndrome are indeed supposed to get. But since by now I know what causes them, I can mostly handle them. E.g., I just found that something in my shopping bag had leaked a bit. On 27 days of the moon I'd wipe every item as I take it out of the bag (regardless of whether it needs it), and throw the bag in the laundry. At Full Moon, I'm likely to take a more active solution, like moving the contents of all items to other containers, so I can dump all the packaging immediately. At New Moon, I may leave the shopping bag as being impossible. (The next day, I'll rescue what I can.) I did look into this one, but it's hard enough to find someone who doesn't look funny when I say the Full Moon influences my daily cycle. If I were to say those panic attacks Asperger literature talks about are actually New Moon-related, the reaction might for me be hard to cope with. Anyway, not to worry: It's only once or twice a year that I notice it's New Moon from the scare I'm having, and this was a bad one, as such scares go. But thanks for the advice. Bye Mysha |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 05 May 17 - 08:41 AM Mysha, panic attacks (which is what this sounds like) can be minimized or alleviated. See a good psychologist, preferably one trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy or Prolonged Exposure Therapy -- both work. |

I think the wry wit scares some people, so, I'm happy to see it's also appreciated in some way. I actually had one of the worst New Moon scares since years this week. Nothing medical, though: Suddenly all this clearing the house seemed completely impossible. Fortunately, one of my colleagues from work was in the house with me and she helped me stay active, though it was very confusing. All good again the next day. (-: I often wonder how other people feel a New Moon. Are any of you more panicky when it's New Moon? (Or vv., mm..) And congratulate Tommy with his 940th septimanaversary. Or was that yesterday? I get confused with the time-zones, sometimes. Bye, Mysha |
