Subject: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 28 Jan 13 - 02:13 PM A helpful mud elf is kindly invited to combine the 2 threads with this new title. A fond thank you to all my Mudfolk friends. After last week's new diagnosis and only 5 doses of prednisolone I feel like a new person. I can't say I feel like my old self because it has been so long I've forgotten what she was like. But yeah! Mostly sleeping through night. Feel fabulous through most of the day after morning dose. I was out on my feet for sometime in cold, windy rain and am not feeling the effects I once did even when i stayed in during weather. Brain working better too. I am not daunted by problems. Old sense of humour returning. Now go to tackle the sjogrens and losing voice during singing thing and all will be well. Again thank you each and everyone from the bottom of my no longer aching feet and the top of my no longer muddled head. So that's why I feel like crap! |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: John MacKenzie Date: 28 Jan 13 - 02:28 PM Well I never heard of prednisolone before, so I looked it up. It is used in so many circumstances as to be positively gob smacking. Glad it's helping you, and hope the improvements continue. |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Bill D Date: 28 Jan 13 - 06:55 PM Interesting... I know a lot about it, (several friends and my wife have needed it) but always heard it spelled "prednisone "... and wikipedia has almost identical pages for both spellings. I will say, it is a mixed blessing for many; causing weird mood swings while being seriously helpful. I am SO glad it is the right thing for you... |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Noreen Date: 28 Jan 13 - 08:58 PM Great news, Tamara! Bill: from this wiki page Prednisone is a glucocorticoid prodrug that is converted by 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase in the liver into the active form, prednisolone (takes me back to my biochem/pharmacology undergrad years!) |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Bill D Date: 28 Jan 13 - 11:17 PM Oh.. 2 forms! Well... I guess extra reading would answer a lot. But what people are prescribed is prednisone. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Bill D Date: 28 Jan 13 - 11:27 PM Ok...now I am informed by my wife..who informs herself of these things in great detail, that 'methyl prednisolone' is given IV as the closest thing to what the body produces naturally in limited amounts. So, one can receive either form, depending on circumstances... So much to learn.... |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 29 Jan 13 - 02:21 AM Prednisolone is still a steroid and I am warned to expect some unpleasant side effects and to let doctors, dentists and chemists know that I have been on steroids for up to a year after I have finished taking them. Chalk up another restful night and another stiffness free morning. And it is still being all weathery outside. What care I for the wind or the rain. I'm up and about and I have NO pain. Thank you all. |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Donuel Date: 29 Jan 13 - 11:50 AM Keep going. There is much to be gained by reminding yourself of what excellent health and motivation felt like to re-design your mind body to regain and surpass the past. I used to be arthritic, lame and in agonizing pain but remembering an ideal self has put those conditions behind me. I even had to get less powerful glasses. However my motivation still needs help. |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 29 Jan 13 - 03:14 PM My poor honey TheSilentOne has just now come down with a terrible cold. It has been more than a year. It was like he needed to know I was ok before he could let himself get sick. So I have been waiting on him and doing housework after work-work. So peculiar. Up until early last week, it was all I could do to stay awake in the evening, long enough to have dinner. Gotta go do some laundry and take a shower before bed. Byees. |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: GUEST,mg Date: 29 Jan 13 - 03:50 PM could this knowledge help your daughter's situation in case she has something similar? |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 29 Jan 13 - 04:10 PM Hil has a different diagnosis. She has Lupus, Sjogrens and RA. Either or both the Lupus and Sjogrens could cause the problems she was having with liver and spleen. Both of which seem to be getting a bit better. She is suffering a lot of bone and joint pain which could be due to any or all three of above or by vitamin D deficiency or bone loss incurred during her high dose steroid course when doc was trying to get her spleen to calm down. She has lost 25 pounds since November and is happy about that. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: GUEST,CS Date: 30 Jan 13 - 03:33 AM I replied to this already but it obviously didn't take! :-/ Anyway, this is very good news! I did read that some people respond really quickly to treatment, hopefully you won't need to stay on the steroids for too long as well. PS it wan't me as gave TSO a cold btw! I thought I might be getting one, but it was just an irritated nosey, probably from something I used in my morning bath. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: GUEST,VaTam on tab Date: 30 Jan 13 - 07:20 AM TSO was entertaining the cold for afew days before Sunday. It just finally took. Did not pass a very restful night last night. Hips, legs and feet ached like the bad old days. All seems to get better within couple hours of morning dose of steroids though. Have read that some people split the dose am and pm so not to be disturbed with coming down off them at night. But it is not medically recommended. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 30 Jan 13 - 01:05 PM Bummer. TSO has generously shared his head cold with me. And man it is coming on like a freight train. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Greg F. Date: 31 Jan 13 - 01:06 PM Hey, Liz! Is Crap No More related to Idle No More? |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 13 Mar 13 - 07:15 AM Too soon spoken. The crap feeling and pain started returning at end of 3rd week of prednisolone. A full week before doc reduced the dose. Getting diabetic like jitters and dizziness everytime I eat too. Not fun. One thing I wish I had done ages ago. 3 inch thick memory foam mattress topper makes a huge difference too pressure points so am sleeping a bit better when I can sleep. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: gnu Date: 13 Mar 13 - 08:15 AM Crap! What says the doc? |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Pete Jennings Date: 13 Mar 13 - 11:05 AM Damn. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: ChanteyLass Date: 13 Mar 13 - 09:07 PM Oh, no! |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 24 Apr 13 - 02:34 PM Still slowly weaning down the steroids. Bloods not good. When ESR goes down the CRP goes up and vice versa. So the chemo, antimalarial and steriods combined are not getting the inflammation down. I have developed IBS, probably due to all the chemicals and the depressed immune system. Fun days. In June I am going to be assessed to determine if biologic treatement is the way to go. That seems hopeful. |

Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: GUEST,mg Date: 24 Apr 13 - 11:12 PM have you read about tumeric for inflammation? I think also coconut oil. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 25 Apr 13 - 08:34 AM best wishes & gentle hugs, TAm sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: VirginiaTam Date: 06 May 13 - 11:09 AM I have read about tumeric and cinnamon. I like both, but both tear my tummy up. I think I have prednisolone irritation of stomach lining. Everything I eat, plain or spicy, causes tummy pain. |
Subject: RE: BS: So I feel like crap no more! From: ollaimh Date: 06 May 13 - 12:24 PM maybe you should put it to music. to the tune of "i'll go to sea no more", I feel like crap no more".... no more, no more, I feel like crap no more. should be a great song |
