Courting and Complaint, FOLKWAYS FP-49 ???

What's the difference between the two, Thomas? All I could find on the Smithsonian Folkways Website was Songs of Courting and Complaint, which is listed as "FW02049 / FA 2049." The liner notes are at http://media.smithsonianfolkways.org/liner_notes/folkways/FW02049.pdf

I am trying to find out if the first Folkways release
used the discs, or stampers originally released
on SIGNET FL 5401 (I assume this was Peggy's label, based in Boston),
and if the Folkways notes mentioned the original Signet release.

I have one - what exactly should I look for? I can't find any mention of Signet, tho' the Copyright at the top of the booklet says 1955,1962 by Folkways...

Hello Little Robin,
Do the record jacket, notes, and record labels specify FP49, and do NOT indicate FA 2049? If 2049 is indicated, you have a later pressing.
If it is only FP-49, look at the disc in the space between the grooves and labels - there will be some writing there, probably FP 49A and FP 49B, but there may also be some other faint stamped information viz E4-KL-5907, E4-KL-5908 OR those markings may be crossed out.

Hello

I just found a copy and was trying to put up a release on Discogs.

Jacket shows FP49, labels are FP 49 A with E4-KL-5907 and Fp 49 B with E4-KL-5908

Run out grooves have E4KL 5907 1 A and E4KL 5908 1 B
