Today I came across a mysterious bit of writing in my own hand, from a few years ago, in the trunk ('boot') of my car. On a folded up, water & grease stained paper, along with some addresses, a grocery list, etc., there is this:

   Casorato Volo sau[?]lia colina
   La stampa Ba Ba Do Ma Firen[c]e

I'm not going to lose any sleep over this, but I thought it might be a source of idle amusement for Catters to interpret .... I have no idea what it's supposed to mean.

Aw, that's touching! Except that I was the one that wrote it - was I sorry I gave myself the clap? And how did I do that, anyway? Maybe I took someone advice about travel and carnal knowledge ... and travelled to Italy, and ....

Well! Now I know - it makes perfect sense: of course the castrati wanted to save my colon - and of course they wanted to stomp on my private parts. I'm sure I wrote this note when I was trying to decide what attitude I should take toward the castrati ....

It may be a note about an article in the Italian newspaper La Stampa, about a light installation "Volo su ..." ("Flight up ...") by the artist Francesco Casorati, on display in Via Collina (Hill Steet) in Montefiridolfi, Firenze (= Florence).

This hsppens to a lot. Most f the time it is a note name or reference to something I heard on npr.

Hmmm - Grishka's suggestion seems pretty close - but, much as I like to imagine myself a cosmopolitan aficianado of arts & letters - if not an international man of mystery - I don't think I would have made note of a newspaper article in a language I don't understand ... but maybe ... I'll try a little relevant googling ....

Mrrzy's guess seems more in keeping with my usual predilections ....

I've got it! Well, not a translation, but where it came from.

Following Grishka's lead, I googled images re: Francesco Casorati . Quite liked what I saw, and sensed something familiar - then remembered: a framed print I bought at a yard sale about five years ago - the text in question is in very small print at the bottom. Obviously, I copied the text with the intent of finding out more. I'll give a more precise rendition of the text later; see if I can get a word-for-word translation.

Btw, the picture of which I have a print is not among the google images. It's something like this one.
