At long last the truth about Hillsborough has come out. However, its probably just the start of another chapter in the saga.
The question now is whether those responsible will be brought to account. I believe that anyone (Or organisation ) which has covered up the truth for so long and caused such misery and suffering to the victims families must be brought to account.

Did you see Kelvin McKenzie on the news last night? What a piece of utter sh*te that man is. Shameless.

Horrible things can happen through inexperience or sheer incompetence, and when they happen you immediately throw your hands in the air and take responsibility. Instead, we've had the supporters of a great football club systematically demonised for decades in order to save a few guilty skins, a whole city demonised in some ways. Ordinary football fans who paid good money to travel to an FA Cup semi-final, expecting a great day out, mums, dads, the kids, brothers and sisters, who should have been kept safe, but who were instead put in mortal danger. And for 27 years their poor families have had to endure the smears of ruthless people in the police and media. I don't think that hoping the book is thrown at these out-and-out bastards is a desire for revenge, rather it's a call to see justice continue to take its proper course. The families have been brilliant. So brave. Love winning through in the end.

And that bloody "newspaper" will never darken my doorstep, that's for sure.

You are absolutely right, Banjoman. This is not the end, but the start of another chapter in this most tragic affair.

If a company were responsible for the deaths of 96 people, together with the injury of many more, then there would justifiably be a public outcry against the directors of that company, possibly leading (these days) to charges of corporate manslaughter against the directors of that company.

The more sinister issue is that the authorities in this case, principally South Yorkshire Constabulary, have not only been responsible for 96 deaths through their gross incompetence, but they have also chosen to cover up that incompetence by a web of lies. They are not simply incompetent, nor just liars - they have been proved to be incompetent at lying - both by tampering with evidence, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Sadly, this situation will almost certainly arise again in the future, so long as misconduct by senior police officers continues to be investigated by - oh let me think - senior police officers!

The events at Hillsborough, and more so the actions of the entire establishment, demonstrates what these people: coppers; politicians and other establishment folk think of us as people. To them, we are worthless plebs who can be cowed through lies and obsfucation.

Bollocks to the lot of them.

I will predict that should this ever result in a court case it will be fudged and the main protagonists, those ultimately responsible, will get a slap on the wrist.

Another great day for British Justice is in store.

Steve you must live in a different world from most folk when the shit hits the fan those up the ladder be they teachers, doctors, lawyers, social workers, soldiers or police higher ranks immediately look for someone else to take the blame.

Well it depends on personal integrity doesn't it? And one can't make sweeping statements about professionals having none. I'd say that the majority of people in positions of authority would be prepared to take responsibility for their mistakes.

In this case, there was a tacit agreement to blame the fans and insult the dead and their families by insisting many of the supporters were behaving 'like lemmings', drunk and had no tickets etc. and in effect that it was their own fault there were so many fatalities. All to save the skins of those really responsible.

I'm just very sad it's taken so long for justice to be delivered and the truth told. One death in these horrifying circumstances would have been regrettable, but ninety-six is a horrific tragedy.
Maybe now the families can start to look ahead and feel they have at last been heard.

Just returned from from a three day family visit to Liverpool.
The inquest verdict is just the start - this will run longer than 'The Mousetrap'.
The most moving aspect of the three days was the quiet dignity of the survivors and the families of the victims.
