Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Greg F. Date: 24 Feb 17 - 05:21 PM We'll see about that in due course. And faith doesn't come into it. "He who lives on hope dies of starvation" -Yiddish proverb. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 24 Feb 17 - 02:52 PM Oh ye of little faith. Mass expression is not as intuitive as you think. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Greg F. Date: 24 Feb 17 - 10:47 AM If the idea is to get media attention And what will media attention accomplish, pray? The real media ( non-Briebart et. al.) already know that the majority of U.S. citizens abhor the toddler in the Whie House & his cronies & their policies. What benefit will yet another dog-bites-man story produce? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 24 Feb 17 - 10:35 AM If the idea is to get media attention then sending them to the Washington Post sounds good to me. I praise the post card idea and Joe for letting us know. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Greg F. Date: 24 Feb 17 - 10:05 AM A waste of time. Trump won't care if he gets a pile of postcards large enough to bury the Trump Tower - he's too full of himself as well as being full of s**t. "In his heart, he knows he's right". Now, a mountailn of postcards sent to the gutless wonders of Republican senators and representitives MIGHT have some effect in getting them to stand up to the demented toddler in the White House. But I doubt it. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 24 Feb 17 - 06:10 AM Thinking along these lines it seems to me all these problems would be avoided if sent in care of the Washington Post. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 24 Feb 17 - 05:58 AM As you know due to the many actual Anthrax attacks via mail, letters going to the White house and other government officials spend days at a Maryland facility being tested before actual delivery adding more time to arrival than you may expect. In fact for security reasons it is possible nothing will arrive at the White House proper. Moving up the date would be advised. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: meself Date: 24 Feb 17 - 01:11 AM I don't know, Joe - maybe I'm a bit prissy, but I find the obvious reference to assassination a little troubling - not least, because it hands the Trumpettes something to make an issue of .... |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Feb 17 - 12:51 AM Nope. I doubt that she wrote it, but she's one who could have. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Feb 17 - 09:47 PM Spread widely, via facebook. I gave credit to your nun friend, though you didn't say if she wrote it or not. :) |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Feb 17 - 09:36 PM Good one, Joe. I've been writing regular postcards to an elderly friend (she loved getting the mail every day) but she passed away recently. I have postcards and stamps to dedicate to this cause. If you send a large postcard (because you have lots of topics to mention) then it should get a regular first class postage stamp. I often put letters to go on the mailbox outside the front door because the postal carrier comes early and they won't be out there long. A photo of the card held to the mailbox by two clothes pins will go up on Instagram and other accounts on the appointed day. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 23 Feb 17 - 07:58 PM If sent to Trump c/o General of GAO Washington DC There is room for a media event showing the trucks being loaded for the trip down Pennsylvania Ave. A change like this is better all the way around. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 23 Feb 17 - 07:39 PM Joe, this idea has an element of 'Mr. Smith goes to Washington'. Here is the Achilles heel. It can all be undone with a single Twitter lie or bogus postcards read by Spicer. The fix : For every single postcard sent to Trump a copy of the card must be sent to the Office of Accountability. But better yet... SEND it to Trump IN CARE OF (c/o) the GAO. (Comptroller General) That way it will be counted and scrutinized by a very trustworthy Agency before they are trucked over to the White House. If I were you I would give the GAO a heads up and change over to the strategy above as soon as possible. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Steve Shaw Date: 23 Feb 17 - 06:44 PM That won't do, Joe, I'm afraid. You used a lot of words that are far too long for Donald Trump. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Donuel Date: 23 Feb 17 - 06:10 PM I won't be asking questions. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Feb 17 - 05:44 PM Dear Mr. Trump, I know a number of Mexican immigrants who are good parents, good members of our community, and very hard-working people. Now they're afraid that they or their friends or relatives are going to be deported. Many are afraid to go to church on Sunday, or to any gatherings of Spanish-speaking people. Even if they are citizens, they're afraid they won't be able to prove their citizenship when ICE comes. Why are you doing this to these nice people? -Joe Offer- ICE - Immigration and Customs Enforcement |
Subject: BS: The Ides of Trump From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Feb 17 - 05:39 PM On March 15, 44 BCE, the Senators of Rome let Julius Caesar know how they felt about him. A very nice nun sent me this letter: THE IDES OF TRUMP ON MARCH 15TH, 2017 MAIL THE WHITE HOUSE A POSTCARD THAT PUBLICLY EXPRESSES OUR VOCAL OPPOSITION TO ACTIONS OF THE NEW PRESIDENT.. We will strive to show the man, the media, and the politicians how vast our numbers are and we will bury the White House post office . Each of us — every protester from every march, each Congress calling citizen, every boycotter, volunteer, donor, and petition signer — will write a single postcard and put them all in the mail on the same day, March 15th, 2017. -Hank Aaron currently holds the record for fan mail, having received 900,000 pieces in a year. We're setting a new record: over a million pieces in a day. So sharpen your wit, unsheathe your writing implements, and write from the heart. All of our issues — DAPL, women's rights, racial discrimination, religious freedom, immigration, economic security, education, the environment, conflicts of interest, the existence of facts — can and should find common cause. That cause is to make it irrefutable that the president's claim of wide support is a farce. How to participate: 1. Write one postcard. Write a dozen! Create your own cards, buy them, share them, it doesn't matter as long as you write #TheIdes or #TheIdesOfTrump on them somewhere. 2. If possible, take a picture of your cards and post them on social media (tagged with #TheIdesOfTrump or #TheIdes, please). This will help us verify our numbers. 3. Spread the word! Everyone on Earth can let Washington know their opinion of the President. They can't build a wall high enough to stop the mail. 4. Then, on March 15th, mail your cards to: The President The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 WHEN DO WE MAIL OUR POSTCARDS? We ask everyone to mail their postcards on the same day — March 15, 2017. They will arrive in a wave over the next days and weeks. WHICH POSTCARD AND/OR MESSAGE SHOULD I USE? We leave that up to you. This event is INCLUSIVE. We want everyone — regardless of which issue or issues concerns them most — to be part of this postcard campaign. Some will send pink postcards, others will focus on immigration, or environment, or any number of other issues that are ALL important. We invite people to write personal messages, by hand, from the heart. While mass-produced or computer-produced postcards are also welcome, handwritten cards accentuate the number of people behind this campaign. Please DO write #TheIdes or #TheIdesOfTrump somewhere on each of your postcards, If you can, take a photograph of it, and post the picture to social media. Please DO NOT write or depict anything violent or encouraging of violence. (e.g., maybe we shouldn't mention what happened to Caesar..... -Joe-) SHOULDN'T WE PICK ONE ISSUE TO WRITE ABOUT? While everyone writing about one cause would certainly send a more concentrated message, the goal of this campaign is to bring people together in opposition, regardless of which cause they feel is most important. All over the world, people are expressing grave concerns about the directions in which this administration is taking America and the planet. We want all of those people to be part of The Ides of Trump. WHO'S BEHIND THIS EFFORT? Someone had the idea and others stepped up to help, but millions of postcards need to be written by millions of people, or none of it matters. WHAT IS THE POSTCARD COST? Use one first class mail stamp DO I NEED TO INCLUDE A RETURN ADDRESS? No. Postcards do not require a return address. We do not recommend including your actual return address. In other words, if you're thinking of getting a very nice nun mad, think twice.... What will YOU write on your postcard? SPQR |
