King salmon and sockeye oh yes there is a God . My kid is clobbering them I will show her how it’s done this year. Last year she beat me and I had to clean 48 fish lol revenge this year

Hi Dan

Sounds fantastic. What could be better than doing your favourite hobby and training your kids to join in.

I understand about how quickly they catch up and even pass you.

Years ago I played cricket and when he was eleven my son played cricket at my club. Soon moved thro' the junior teams and he was chosen to play in the First Team. How proud I was to walk out to open the innings with my son. He scored more runs than me. Something he has not let me forget.

Dan while fishing yesterday I caught a huge bass. A lady and her husband walked over as I was releasing the fish

Lady- why would you release that huge fish
Dan- cause I don’t want to keep them
Lady- aren’t they good eating
Dan- well yes but I don’t eat fish
Lady- so you fish to catch fish because you don’t eat fish
Dan- well ya but I like to talk to them
Lady- and what do you say to them
Dan- go back and tell your friends about the alien abduction
Lady- laughing ok but I am puzzled
Dan- if you let every fish go you can never be disappointed if you don’t catch one

I really don’t like salmon, my friends and family go nuts over the sockeye and kings i will bring home but me.. no way i am just no fish eater. I even had the local tv weather lady email me with a hey are you heading for Alaska again. Hmm more salmon please lol

When I was a kid we fished a lot in lakes and streams with our father, and then as we got older, walked down to the salt water beach or piers and fished. Most of what we caught there was thrown back, but the trout and silvers were kept to eat. I understand it's two parts - the fishing and the eating.

I do eat fish, but I'm seldom disappointed if one spits the hook after a good fight. In fact, about half the species I regularly catch aren't much good for eating, so I prefer they release themselves instead of me having to do it. Just as long as they don't take expensive lures with them when they do it.

Last day I heard a grunt grunt and it was a monster brown bear behind me. Luckily he wanted fish and not a tough old dude ugh
