Subject: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 16 Apr 19 - 04:47 PM New York magazine says; Sick of old people? He looks like Alex P. Keaton. Scared of young people? He looks like Alex P. Keaton. Religious? He's a Christian. Ahiest? He's not weird about it. Wary of Washington? He's from flyover country. Horrified by flyover country? He has degree's from Harvard and Oxford. Traditional? He's married. Woke? He's gay. Worried about socialism? He's a tchnocratic capitalist. Some say if squint hard enough to not see color you can seethe inspiring proffessor Obama. Oh, and he is the son of an immigrant, a Navy Vet, speaks seven forign languages, owns 2 rescue dogs and pays the piano. What mother wouldn't love this guy? Mayor Buttigige could be president. |

Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Jeri Date: 16 Apr 19 - 05:12 PM I didn't know whothehell he was, then I saw that speech. He's good. IMO, the problem with the array of Democratic candidates is they're all pretty good. I'd probably vote for a rotten kumquat over you-know-who, but these guys all have brains and heart. |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 16 Apr 19 - 08:22 PM kumquat liquer sounds good to me. Most of the names of the other candidates sound like names of actual side dishes. "Try it, you'll like it". |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 16 Apr 19 - 08:29 PM I'll have a bowl of Kamala Harris and a Tim Ryan on the rocks |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: keberoxu Date: 16 Apr 19 - 08:38 PM This article stopped me in my tracks. "...Gaping Blind Spot" |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Rapparee Date: 16 Apr 19 - 09:26 PM What that article doesn't say is what is being done to correct it. I lived in South Bend for 18 years and I know the area that article refers to. It has been blighted since Studebaker closed in 1963. |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: robomatic Date: 16 Apr 19 - 09:34 PM I guess I'd start by getting his name right. |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 17 Apr 19 - 08:10 AM When the Chuckles candy factory shut down out there 65 years ago, was when the area went to Helen Ahandbasket. In 2008 we came damn close to losing 2 of the Big Three. (car companies) |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Mr Red Date: 18 Apr 19 - 02:37 AM Sorry to spoil the party but I saw a documentary/history on Ceasar. The one who gave us the name of Roman emperors, Tsars, Shahs, Kaisers etc. The narrator reckoned he was the first dictator to document his methods. And set the model for all dictators hence. Big-up and spin his achievements. Lie, big time**. Appeal directly to the underclass. Use aggressive tactics. Keep the military loyal, and put on parades. Change the laws. Put up monuments with his name all over the place. Sound familiar? Any New presidential hopeful has to find traits that will counter those above! No contest in this parish but in the big wide old US of A? **He even claimed to have invaded Britannia, yet the best we could describe his visit is as "exploritory". As if traders hadn't been exchanging goods for centuries before. |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Mr Red Date: 18 Apr 19 - 02:44 AM He did die in a hail of daggers. But (sorry US) it took ten years. And he was renowned for womanising. |
Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 18 Apr 19 - 06:20 AM Ceasar made the imperial outline for dictatorship but I see more American parrallels with 1920's Hitler culminating in suppressing all other traitorous political parties and attacking all of the 'enemy of the people' journalists except for Nazi propoganda. By the end of the 20's Adolf had a third of the members of Congress from the Nazi party. Then convienient deaths did the rest. |

Subject: RE: BS: How about Pete 4 President? From: Donuel Date: 18 Apr 19 - 06:40 AM Mr. Red, I would go so far to say that the gigantic difference between Hitler and Trump is that Trump will not become drug dependant and spiral down the meth and cocaine delusions of grandeur. Trump already has delusions of grandeur-naturally. |
