Subject: Lyr Add: BLACKWATER SIDE (from Bert Jansch) From: GUEST,Marco B. Date: 14 Mar 03 - 04:12 AM Hi! Here's the Jansch's version of "Blackwaterside". Please, help me with lyrics of the CD "When the circus comes to town" (see other threat). Marco B. BLACKWATER SIDE One morning fair I took he air Down by blackwater side 'twas gazing all al around me The Irish lad I spied All through the fore part of the night We lay in sport and play Till this young man arose and gathered his clothes Saying 'Fare thee well today That's not the promise that you gave to me When first you lay on my breast You could make me believe with your lying tongue That the sun rose in the West Well then go home to your father's garden Go home and weep your fill And think on your own misfortune That you 've brought with your want and will. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: black waterside- Bert Jansch From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 14 Mar 03 - 08:07 AM I always thought the last words were 'wanton will'? these are the lyrics Liam Clancy and Altan have recorded, which I referred to in another thread. As I learned it, from Liam, it's 'the Irish girl I spied'; the convention for a male singer who is about to tell a woman's story. |
