Does anyone know the lyrics to an old song from the 50's/60's about old Minnesota Twins manager Billy Martin? It had the lyric "are you leavin Billy Martin? Its a shame, its a shame."?"

I would appreciate any help as always! Thanks!

There was a record that was put out in Baltimore for the Orioles. It might have been on that. sounds like the same kind of content. It was in 1961. Because they had a slogan to go with it "It can be done in 61". They (the Orioles) were faltering were trying to build up fan interest with it. Some lyrics I remember from it include: 'We're gonna win, Birds, we're gonna win! We're gonna win today. We're gonna win Birds, we're gonna win. We're going all the way . . .etc.

There was one about the Detroit Tigers: "Tigers, Tigers shining bright In the ball parks of the night. Your pitching's fair, your field adroit So why no Pennants for Detroit?

I lived in Minnesota in the early 60s, and all I remember is:

We're gonna win, Twins, we're gonna score We're gonna win, Twins, watch those baseballs soar Knock out a home run, shout a hip hooray Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today!

I have a nephew who is an avid player and fan and a musician as well. I'll see what I can find out.

I know I've heard that song. Grandma would know right off. She had a legendary knowledge of baseball. She died in 1982, at the age of 85, still an avid fan.

My friend, who collects all things, related to Twins (and Vikings) is not familiar with this song. He informed me that Billy Martin was the Twins manager in 1969. They won the American League title, so the Twins fired him.
