From: Leraud
Date: 19 Jun 04 - 05:03 AM

All those Folk AND Football fans will be pleased to hear that the timing of the guest, Robb Johnson, for the Waltham Abbey Folk Club will be altered on Monday so that you can see him and the football. There will be a TV on in a separate room and after the match you can come into the folk club and celebrate or be consoled, whichever it turns out to be.

Robb Johnson, one of Englands best singer/songwriters will be appearing at the Waltham Abbey Folk Club on Monday 21st June.

We meet every Monday from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. at the Royal British Legion, Brooker Street, Waltham Abbey, Essex. We are just off J 26 of the M25.

Come and join us.

There will be something for those of us who aren't interested in the football, won't there?

Of course Jacqui - the football fans will be in the small blue room with the telly and we'll be in the hall partaking of musical culture.

The builders are in there now, although they have said that the faint cries of 'yes!' may still be audible to those with particularly acute hearing.

I heard they were postponing the match; so the England team could all come and watch Robb

Be reasonable and demand the impossible now

It's a wayne rooney moment all the way from disneyland

"...faint cries of 'yes!' may still be audible to those with particularly acute hearing."

Are we expecting a lot of Croatians to pop in, then?

A friend of mine reckons that even football chants could be considered as folk music.

Anyone got the rest of the words and the chords for 'who ate all the pies'?

2 good ones from last season

Sang to a South American with beautiful flowing hair, playing for Manchester United

THERE'S ONLY ONE SALLY GUNNELL

Or Leicester's fans reply to the Leeds United taunt - GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN (referring to Leicester's threatened relegation)

They sang - SO ARE WE, SO ARE WE, SO ARE WE

My all time fave has got to be...

(to the tune of "Robin Hood")

Peter Fear, Peter Fear, Bombing down the wing,
Peter Fear, Peter Fear, Bombing down the wing,
He shims to the left,
He bobs to the right,
Have a go!
Have a go!
Not quite right...

It was a good tactical move on Lynne's part, to rearrange the kick off.

What are you doing back from Beverley?

Publicity Limerick

What other day's gonna boast this
Robb Johnson, the match and the solstice
If England lose
We'll be singing the blues
Though Robb will be singing the mostest

Ps Lynne, I went away Wed-Sat. Nice youth hostel up there

Football fans please note: You can turn up early to see the beginning of the match. The club usually starts at 8:30 but feel free to turn up at 7:30 with your football paraphanalia and rattles, razors, skinhead haircuts, Tennants extra strong, etc.

An excellent decision! Why don't you come up at 7:30 and watch the football as well?

Well, we had a great night. Football fans were watched the match and were well and truly satisfied. Singers sang until 9:40 when the football fans returned andwhen went on to do his first set. A brief break for the bumper raffle at 10:20 and then back on with Robb for the rest of the night. He was excellent.
