Subject: Roger Miller's Dang Me From: Jeep man Date: 26 Aug 00 - 09:12 PM I sure would like to have the guitar chords to this great song by Roger Miller. It probably is still under copyright, but all I want is to sing it for fun'(and it is funny when I sing). Jeepman |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Roger Miller's Dang Me From: Gary T Date: 26 Aug 00 - 09:40 PM I would question one line of the lyrics in the link PA provided (thank you for that link, by the way). Where it says:
SPENT THE GROCERIES AND HALF THE RENT I always heard:
Spent the groceries and half the rent (In other words, he's $13.73 in the hole, possibly a bar tab.) And of course the last line should say "son of a gun", not "song of a gun". |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Roger Miller's Dang Me From: Jim Dixon Date: 10 May 06 - 03:15 PM I think Gary T heard it correctly. However my father used lack/like this way. He pronounced it "like" but he meant "lack." Or, as another way of putting it, he pronounced "like" and "lack" in exactly the same way. My father grew up in western Kentucky. Roger Miller was from Texas. I don't know how widespread this usage is/was. "I lack/like fourteen dollars" means "I'm fourteen dollars short." |
