Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: catspaw49 Date: 26 May 01 - 08:53 PM We've run several threads about this, bu it means BULL SHIT......as in sitting around "bull shitting" each other, ie..just talking and giving opinions. Before long, some dork will arrive on this thread and explain that BS is and has been the downfall of Mudcat, inappropriate in this folk and blues forum, and all that crap. Just ignore it. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: Rick Fielding Date: 27 May 01 - 10:47 AM If memory serves me right, the original suggestion for "BS" was made by Sandy Paton AS A JOKE! He repudiated it several times to no avail. A lot of people objected to using "BS" to preface something that they thought was worthwhile and interesting (although not music-oriented) and thought it lumped their posts in with the "Why are Americans so fat" or "what's your favourite number" silliness. I've used "NM" (non music) a couple of times. Works for me. Rick |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: catspaw49 Date: 27 May 01 - 11:19 AM Well, not to throw something serious in here but....... Max did come up with an easy filter for threads labeled BS that made it easier for those "can't take the time to look through the threads for ones of musical value." So on that basis, I started using it and if it keeps the peace, who cares. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: flattop Date: 28 May 01 - 12:20 AM Hey, Banjer, I work with a Doug Young who might be Neil's Cousin. He told me that he remembers nights when the drugs were so strong that the bikers were rolling on the floor crying. |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 28 May 01 - 12:50 AM flattop, is that the guy who was supposed to take care of me if something happened to you on the way to pick me up at the train station? (Aack!) |

Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: flattop Date: 28 May 01 - 09:51 PM Doug was the guy who was to take care of you, Carol. Well, he was down the chain a link or two. First, I had to die in that horrific traffic accident that you dreamed of in living colour. Second, Rick, who agreed to be number one back up, would have to have been unavailable when you arrived. Then you could have called Doug. He would have helped you make it through the night – grieving over my tragic accident of course. Doug is really a fun guy when he's not catatonic, just like the rest of us. He took accordion and tap dancing lessons when he was a kid. He thinks the lessons were his parents' plan to humiliate him. He had the good taste to never play the accordion and tap at the same time. The accordion pinched his thighs. |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 28 May 01 - 10:00 PM ...must have been an Italian accordion. |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: Rick Fielding Date: 28 May 01 - 10:33 PM You were in good (and apparently) multiple hands! Rick |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 28 May 01 - 10:45 PM Looks like you're right, Rick. Thanks! (But I am glad flattop arrived safely ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: flattop Date: 28 May 01 - 11:50 PM Speaking of hands, I have never been pinched by an Italian but Doug likes to play physical jokes on me. He's bigger than me and knows that that I hate being touched by men. He'll sneak up behind me, grab me and say, 'This is a Half-Nelson, this is a Full-Nelson, and this is a Father-Nelson.' |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 29 May 01 - 12:03 AM Yup. Glad you made it to the train station ok, flattop. |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: flattop Date: 29 May 01 - 12:20 AM Thanks, I'm glad too. You had me worried. When I called Rick to ask him to cover for your worry that I might died in a crash on the highway, we had an interesting conversation. Part of it centered around Al Cromwell a great Toronto singer-musician who we both knew from years back. What I didn't know was that Al had died about five years earlier. After that conversation I drove with extra care thinking that you might have placed a jinx on me. |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 29 May 01 - 12:30 AM Extra care is good. (Don't know how to do jinxes, though.) |
Subject: BS From: GUEST,Stringman Date: 04 Jun 02 - 01:59 PM can you tell what BS at the start of a thread means. In an effort to reduce the incidence of flagellation of deceased equines, messages from multiple threads combined. |

Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Jun 02 - 06:57 PM Rick is right, Doug, but there's more to it than that. They not only eat too much, they also eat a lousy diet with too much junk food in it, and they lead rather inactive lives (in general). Operating the remote just isn't enough exercise to keep a human body fit on a daily basis, not even when you throw cheesies at the screen because the visiting team just scored! :-) Add to this the drive-in banks and fast food outlets for people who ain't got enough energy to actually get OUT of their car and WALK a few feet! Egad! When will we have drive-in washrooms is what I want to know? "GIVE ME CONVENIENCE OR GIVE ME DEATH" is what Patrick Henry really said...and those heartless redcoats shot him! Highly inconvenient, it was... flattop - My God, you're back from the dead! Wha's happenin', bro? PM me at once! - LH |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Jun 02 - 07:14 PM Or did they hang him? Well, at any rate it was very inconvenient. - LH |
Subject: RE: BS: What does BS Mean? From: CarolC Date: 05 Jun 02 - 07:18 PM No suck luck, LH. That flattop stuff is from a year ago. I think one of the lake monsters out there in CB swallowed him up or something. I like that drive-in washroom idea. Man, someone could make a fortune with that idea. |
