Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: Bunnahabhain Date: 30 Apr 05 - 05:28 AM Blatent Silliness, Break from Songs, Bitching and Sermons, Breakfast on Sausages- ok, I made this one up. Really, it stands for whatever we make it stand for, and that will vary with our mood, and the type of thread: politics, word games, plain silliness, and the odd things that cannot be identified, such as MOAB. Enjoy. Bunnahabhain says. |

Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: GUEST,Jim Dixon Date: 30 Apr 05 - 11:28 AM Seriously, any thread that is not about music is supposed to have the prefix "BS". It doesn't matter what "BS" stands for. Here, it means non-music. This tradition goes way back to the early days of Mudcat when it was a serious-minded site about music with rare digressions into other topics. We are stuck with the prefix, although it confuses some people. |
Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: Once Famous Date: 30 Apr 05 - 11:33 AM Guest, Confoozed, do you also need to be explained where babies come from? How about why the sky is blue? |
Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: GUEST,Don Firth Date: 30 Apr 05 - 11:43 AM I believe the original euphemism was "Breeze Shooting." Don Firth |
Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: GUEST,Marginal Gibbon Date: 30 Apr 05 - 12:23 PM For some it means Bit** Slapping. |
Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 30 Apr 05 - 01:57 PM Yes, the "Breeze Shooting" euphemism was OMCP (Official Mudcat Cafe' Policy) for a while. It was foisted upon us by the folks who feel compelled to type "s**t" to protect the sensibilities of those who have never heard or spoken the word "shit". Fortunately, bullshit has lately assumed an air of respectability courtesy of the work of Jessup, Doelman, LaWall et al in their seminal tome "Quantum BS and the Dark Matter Enigma" in which it is shown that the Universe is held together by the gravitational attraction of huge masses of bullshit. (Like this.) If not for the unifying principle of bullshit, so eloquently stated by Doelman in "A GUT of BS", the Universe as we know it would fly apart into gazillions of little particles. Or, as the principle has been so succinctly verbalized by Gluon the Cosmic Duck-Dog, "QUARK!" |

Subject: RE: BS: BS? From: Peace Date: 30 Apr 05 - 05:28 PM She was the girl of my dreams when I was seven. That wasn't her real name. She worked in the store across the street and I think she was the store owner's daughter, much older than me and very worldly. She was nine or ten. Ever since the day I saw her yank a tooth out of her mouth she was the one for me. And she could use a sling shot better than most guys. She didn't shy away from snakes or bees or mad dogs. And she was tougher than anyone except A### D#######, but he was thirteen and outweighed her by at least forty pounds. Bobbalina Stump. If you read this thread, please know you are still a memory to me. |
