I'm not a born again Christian. But I've been listening to "I Believe in You" from Dylan's "Biograph" set. What a song by our generaitons finest writer. Kind of says it all about how he felt at the time.

Mine would be the time Neil Diamond swept off the stage at "The Last Waltz", flushed with triumph, having just sung a forgettable piece of melodramatic fluff called "Dry Your Eyes".

"You'll have to be pretty good to top that!" he remarked to Bob Dylan, who was waiting backstage.

"What do I have to do?" asked Bob, "...walk out on the stage and fall asleep?"

I suppose his two finest moments were playing "Pawn in their Game" during the trip to the south with Pete Seeger, and his rendition of "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie". The first in particular was a completely uncharacteristic act of public-spiritedness and he rarely did that kind of thing again.

yours, Peter T.

He became human when I learned that he did not write all of his songs from scratch.

My fave Dylan moment was when he accepted the Lifetime Achievement Grammy.

It's really difficult but I think I'd opt for February 1963 when I first heard "Freewheelin" at the age of 17, I do believe the hairs stood up on the back of my neck, I knew this was somebody special and almost 40 years on I'm even more convinced. There have been many great moments since then, most recently "Things Have Changed". Impossible question really, like trying to pick a favourite Dylan song, changes all the time.

This is great fun! I've changed my mind. It was the first time I saw him live: May 6 1965, Newcastle, England, still got the ticket stub!
