Subject: Cheap Mike for recording of tim whistle? From: GUEST,Nick Date: 30 Nov 01 - 08:48 PM Some fans of the New Foundlad Band, Great Big Sea are putting together "Kitchen Tapes." I want to record a version of Rant & Roar on my penny whistle. I plan to record it on my home stereo but I dont own a microphone. I dont want to spend more than 20-30 bucks as this will be a one time thing. Can I find a decent mike for the price and the task? THe mike plug is small, a friend told me it is an "RCA " jack. Is there any thing to look for, or avoid? Than |

Subject: RE: Cheap Mike for recording of tim whistle? From: Bert Date: 30 Nov 01 - 09:56 PM Yer standard $10 moving coil Karaoke mike will do the job quite well, as will most condenser mikes. Don't use the automatic volume control and don't record at too high a level. |

Subject: RE: Cheap Mike for recording of tim whistle? From: Rick Fielding Date: 02 Dec 01 - 01:16 PM Very good Sham and bert. You've got a vaudeville future there. Do you have a pawn shop near you? A good used mike (even a Sure or Electrovoice) can often be had for thirty bucks. Add one RCA adaptor and you'll have good sound. Tim will be pleased! Rick |
