We were having a conversation last night over a couple and the talk turned to what nationality meant to people. Then we wondered well if we couldn't be Scottish/Irish/Australian/French whatever where would we like to be from? The results were very interesting, and based on peoples hobbies and climate preferences before things like standard of living and employment prospects.

Where would you like to be from if you culdn't be your current nationality?

Well, I guess I'd want to be a Kazakh, because their traditional music kicks half a dozen kinds of ass. But I really wouldn't want to live in Kazakhstan. So... I'd be an ethnic Kazakh, living in Norway. But I'd buy a good dombra before I immigrated. :)

well, much of my ancestry is Scottish, so thats a good choice...but I also like a LOT of what I have learned about Australia in the last 5 years..and they have some of the most interesting WOOD in the world, and that's my profession (turning it)....so....

other interesting choices are Swiss and Belgium (for the beer & chocolate)

Welsh. Don't know why, just Welsh. And no it isn't the sheep, we had sheep in Dorset (lovely black faces and legs like they were wearing stockings..... creamy fleeces, deep, resonant voices.....), although I came from a dairy area.

I always wanted to BE a painter and decorator, but they didn't take girl apprentices then (this was just before the Sex Discrimination act... by the time that came it, I was already on my career path to frustrated secretary and general dogsbody)... I could have been that annoying woman from the furniture makeover show who paints everything pink or lime green!!!
