Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Rick Fielding Date: 22 Feb 02 - 09:47 PM Folks, let me explain here. Obviously Jed is referring to "Baby Doo". Yup, Baby Doo Caston, the great blues piano player and long time partner of Willie Dixon. Also a member of "The big Three" with Dixon, and Amos Easton. That IS it, isn't it Jed? Rick |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: C-flat Date: 22 Feb 02 - 11:38 PM Please keep this place "Beckham" free!!! He's a joy to watch on the football field but I want to cringe every time I see him and "Posh" in the tabloids! |

Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Big Mick Date: 23 Feb 02 - 07:35 PM Now see, Jed........if only you drank alchohol, then you could have a Guinness too. It would calm you down......allow you to act a little braver....and not be such a chick.en. Anyhow....I will just go back to waiting for the happy announcement... Mick |

Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Feb 02 - 08:50 PM So Jed...Would this be why someone was acting so upset over the minor detail of you forgetting to be back in time? Would she have been having to schedule in other things besides musicians....like dead rabbits? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Rick Fielding Date: 23 Feb 02 - 08:56 PM Well.....Jed DID spend quite a bit of time in the back of the 12th Fret with that little guitar.....is it giving birth to a Tiple? Rick |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Feb 02 - 09:00 PM I think one of us is thinking of the wrong chik Rick! Maybe both of us... Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: SINSULL Date: 23 Feb 02 - 09:04 PM Shall we do "process of elimination"? I'll start. It is not I. |

Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Feb 02 - 04:23 AM Count me out, but a lurker I know is also in the same condition. She's not posted for ages so you've probably forgotten her. She's presently throwing up for Britain, so can't log on, the scrolling makes her want to heave onto the screen.... LTS |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: MAG Date: 24 Feb 02 - 10:52 AM If she's only in the first trimester, it's bad form to go public ... too early. Kinda like a baby shower too early. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Dorrie Date: 24 Feb 02 - 01:42 PM oi i love posh spice but of course each to their own. but she's just a person like any other. even if she is famous and stick thin i love her |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: JedMarum Date: 25 Feb 02 - 12:47 PM you know mag, you're probably right. I never could color inside the lines! I think the lass has been off-line for some time now. I think I better wait 'til she speaks up fer herself ... |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: PeteBoom Date: 25 Feb 02 - 01:26 PM I know its not me! (Don't say it, Mick...) |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Mrrzy Date: 25 Feb 02 - 02:30 PM I'm going to pop in about the idea of not telling till you're in your second trimester... as the old song says, I'm against it. TELL RIGHT AWAY - then if something DOES go wrong in the first semester you won't be alone, but will get all kinds of very helpful sympathy. Congrats to whoever, though, if that's what she wants! |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: guinnesschik Date: 25 Feb 02 - 11:14 PM Okay, okay, 'tis I. Jed got his whompin' today during practice, but not TOO hard, as I'm all delicate now. (yeah, right.) Morning sickness...nope, just sleeping late, 'cause himself is all about spoiling me now. Thanks much for all the well wishes! And yea, I'm fairly tickled, but I'm gonna have to change my name. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 25 Feb 02 - 11:41 PM Aw now you can't do that!!! Great news and I'm glad I guessed right! Now of course you'll have to keep us all posted so we can stick our nose into all the details and decision making!!! So I'm sitting here thinking Patrick is a fine name.............. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Big Mick Date: 25 Feb 02 - 11:49 PM Nope, I think it has to be Michael Patrick Jed Rick El Swanno LEJ Kendall Max Blue Penis Guinnesschick. But definitely Michael as the first name. All the best, Michael Richard Patrick Lane |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Amergin Date: 25 Feb 02 - 11:55 PM no Michael is too ordinary....i think she should choose a name from Irish mythology... |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Jeri Date: 26 Feb 02 - 07:58 AM Well, I have a metal bow that's too smooshy to play with, but it would be handy to thwack people with. You don't need a lot of physical strength - just good timing. Again, congratulations! Enjoy being spoiled. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: MMario Date: 26 Feb 02 - 08:40 AM Name the child Guiness - then she just changes her name to Guinessmom. All the best! |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Mrrzy Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:09 AM If the baby's named after anyone Irish nobody will ever know how to spell the name if they hear it, or pronounce it if they see it written. THIS WILL BE A BOON - I can tell a telemarketer a mile away by the way they can't say my name! I've even got my kids trained, the other day I heard Willie pick up the phone, and was kind of hurrying till I heard him ask Well, if you can't say her name, why would she want to talk to you? ALL THE BEST gc, and I hear a little Guiness is good for gestation... |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: JedMarum Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:23 AM Oh wait a minute. Now y'all have got this all wrong; I didn't mean to start a thread about pregnancy. I was starting and alternate thread to My Baby Don't Wear No Panties. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Wesley S Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:25 AM Congrats Karen - Just what this world needs - another native Texan. If you need the experience our son is available if you want to babysit. I'm very happy for you and himself. Has he popped the buttons on his vest yet? Keep us posted. Next - The Mudcat virtual baby shower. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:30 AM How come there ain't nobody gettin' named Aloishis or Lamphear anymore? These two being names in my Mom's family, I feel as though I dodged a major bullet....... Karen and I chose Tristan for entirely different reasons, but it was a first choice. Looking back, we knew before his birth that there was a likelihood (based on his bio-mom's history) of significant delays and mental retardation. I suppose if we'd thought about it longer we would have given him a name easier to both say and spell. Funny thing though, I look at him now, 10 years old and doing so well in Special Ed (and mainstreamed for some classes), and when I see those bright blue eyes and that happy smile, I can't imagine him as anyone but Tris. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Feb 02 - 09:39 AM Hey Wes!!! I was just thinking about you (and your lack of updates) and the fact that you Texans are having all the kids.....Somethin' in the water maybe? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Wesley S Date: 26 Feb 02 - 10:38 AM No Spaw - It's not in the water - it's in the jeans. I did post an update on Brendan on his first birthday two months ago. If I posted everytime he did something cut and adorable this place would turn into the Mudcat Center for Bragging Adoring Dads or "McBad" for short. He's almost walking now - we're planning on taking him to the North Texas Irish Festival this weekend if the weather is good. |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Noreen Date: 26 Feb 02 - 02:11 PM If the baby's named after anyone Irish nobody will ever know how to spell the name if they hear it, or pronounce it if they see it written. Nobody apart from the population of Ireland, perhaps? I seem to have my pedant's hat on today... Many congrats, guinnesschik! This is when you learn to be serene (at least that was how I was described when feeling large and immobile at 8 months pregnant!) Noreen |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Feb 02 - 02:27 PM .......- we're planning on taking him to the North Texas Irish Festival this weekend if the weather is good. Now Wes, I'd consider that to be one helluva' photo opp myself and I'd bet Jed or some 'Catter will have a camera that we can get a photo up from......Doncha' think? BTW, if it's in the jeans, you must be one of them "Short-Time Fly Guys".......but I guess it works out pretty well anyway!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Liz the Squeak Date: 26 Feb 02 - 03:24 PM I never got to be serene, it was either face down in the toilet/bucket/sink/nearest hedge, or the beached whale. She grew quick and stayed big..... so I looked like a short blonde VW Beetle from about 3 months, especially when I lay down. I couldn't get up easily so I just stayed there.... I never did the serene waddle around the baby shops, it was "you've got 3 minutes to serve me before I throw up on your displays...." Good luck with it all, and get your rest now, you sure as hell won't get any after it's born!!! (And classical Greek names are just as bad for spelling... in Bratlings' class there is a Cloe, a Nerissa and of course Phoebe.... argh!!) LTS |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: SINSULL Date: 26 Feb 02 - 03:27 PM Uh, guys...what if the baby is a girl? |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: Jeri Date: 26 Feb 02 - 04:34 PM The name that runs in my family is Hezekiah. While this name sounds fairly dorky, my uncle got tagged with a shortened version: "Kiah," which sounds pretty cool. 2 of my cousins, his daughters, named their kids "Kiah." If she's a girl, don't name her Jeri. People will try to spell it "Jerry," "Jerri," "Geri," "Gerri," etc, call her and accuse her of being a "Geraldine." (When I was living in TX, my driver's license said I was "Jert" because they mis-typed it. It could have been worse.) Is it a state law in Texas that kids have to have middle names that can be hyphenated with the first name? Like "Joe-Bob," "Billie-Sue" or "Reginald-Heathcliff?" Gotta quit - used up all my quotation marks for today... |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: GUEST Date: 26 Feb 02 - 06:21 PM There's always "Bubba Sue". I'm sure no one has used that one yet. Good for either gender. Wesley |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: MAG Date: 26 Feb 02 - 06:23 PM Congrats -- take care of yourself and "it" -- how are you doing on food cravings? -- MA |
Subject: RE: Baby Due From: guinnesschik Date: 26 Feb 02 - 06:46 PM I heard on Leno last night that women who have between 1 and 14 drinks a week are more likely to get pregnant...just less likely to know who the father is. I've never been serene, but rather dervishy with my pregnancies. I have two daughters already, 13 and 9, who gave me picture perfect pregnancies, until about the seventh month when I exploded, and both had to be taken early because of their size. They were healthy and perfect, nonetheless. We are considering names from Irish mythology and history. We're also considering family names, as his mom's maiden name was Brennen. He will not be a William or Willie, as it bodes ill. The child will not have Joe, Bob, Ray, Lee, Lynn, or Wayne anywhere near its name. As our last name is Riccarde, it will not be a Ricky or a Rikki. I knew a Bubba Sue once. No strange cravings yet, but I did eat a whole bowl of pickles, oloves and peppers the other night. That doesn't count, does it? Hey, does anyone wanna send me their pegnancy/delivery horror stories? Any advice? I'm having this child with a midwife, and I've got to admit that I'm old enough that it's scary. |
