do you know if any of stan's music is in publication, we are the bigest fans and miss him and his work dearly. garnet is doing some great work but he's got a long way to go to catch up to his brother. we have been looking for the song WHITE SQUALL in particular for some time and any direction you can point us will be greatly appreaciated.

ed :-)

ps: good luck with the festival,i wish we could make it but we'll be to sea on that date.

Yes, there is some of Stan's music in print. In fact, there's a whole song book. I don't know the exact name of the book right now, but I sure can find out for you. I'll check with my best friend, accompanist, and music guru. she'll know about it if anyone will. I'll let you know.

cheerio, Ireland

_AN UNFINISHED CONVERSATION_ (the life and music of Stan Rogers)by Chris Gudgeon

VIKING-----Published by the Penguin Group---Penguin Books Canada Ltd.----10 Alcorn Ave.----Toronto, Ontario, Canada M4V 3B2

OR: Viking Penguin---a division of Penguin Books U.S.A.----375 Hudson St.------New York City 10014 USA

BE SURE the copy you get is put together correctly!! My copy jumps from page 192 to 197! Pages 193 to 196 follow page 200. Several other pages are wrong too! But "White Squall" IS here.

The book is dedicated to the author's mother as well as: To the passenger and crew of flight 797 !!

The song book is "Stan Rogers, Songs from Fogarty's Cove", published by OFC Publications, Box 4061, Station E, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The copyright is 1982, so I don't know whether the address is still valid. A library might have it or be able to get it.

Its a great book, with about 40 songs and commentary by Stan.

yes, "Songs from Fogarty's Cove" is the name of the book i couldn't remember. I asked the guru, and she reminded me, too. the book is still in print, and still available in music shops here in Nova Scotia at least, and also at a few of our tourist sites. I've seen it even in New Brunswick.

They sell Stan's songbook at http://www.bpm.on.ca , with which I have no connection.

I don't know if White Squall is in it. You could e-mail Back Porch and ask.

Nope, "White Squall" isn't in the Fogarty's Cove book.

I'm looking for lyrics to Stan Rogers's song, "White Squall", from the album, From Freshwater. Any help much appreciated. (And if you happen to have a copy of "Man with Blue Dolphin", same album, I wouldn't say no...)

Thanks, Mary Anne mohanraj@mills.edu

Hi, Mary Anne - you will find the lyrics to "White Squall" in this thread. I think it will be hard for us to come up with a tune, but maybe we could talk Dick into including the song in the database if somebody would post a tune.
There are some URLs for Stan Rogers Web sites on the other thread, and one of them might just lead you to "Man with Blue Dolphin."
