Last night on Lancashire Drift, the folk programme on Radio Lancashire, Nic Dow presented a wonderful tribute to Tony Rose. It was terrific to hear some of those Leader/Trailer recordings again...well done to Mr. Dow and Nick Caffrey for evoking some wonderful memories!!

All the best...........Harry.

Could anyone tell me how old Tony Rose is? I have a cousin by marriage called Tony Rose in Manchester - wondering if the same. Also I'm a singer (sang fold for years) and am just about to sing folk again for the first time tonight - that's how I found this page - looking for a song.

Dear Guest,
Sorry to tell you this but...
You might have noticed that in the opening posting
on this thread it said 'tribute to'.
The well known and much respected folk artist Tony Rose
died peacefully in his sleep on 6th June 2002, I believe.
A fine singer and player, much missed....
Put on one of his lasting works, have a drink, sing along...

'Go down to your grog, boys, and be of good cheer
For it's while we have sea-room, brave boys, never fear'

Ralphie
You could have listened to it on the Internet. All the BBC radio areas are covered.
This is the link for it. Then follow your nose and get them speakers on.

And as it comes under 'Community Radio', the Beeb don't keep archives...

These days each program stays on the 'ROT' for a week, then is overwritten by the next broadcast.

I know Harry didn't record it... perhaps someone else did?
